Wellesley, Mass. In a recent release, RAPIDLY GROWING RADIO FREQUENCY (RF) TECHNOLOGIES (IFT057B) from BCC Research (www.bccresearch.com), the global market for rapidly growing RF technologies was worth $200 billion in 2010. That value is projected to be $416 billion in 2015, after increasing at a five-year compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 15.7%. The global market for rapidly growing RF technologies can be broken down into seven segments HDTV, advanced cellular, GPS, wireless networks, RFID, digital radio, and RF plasma. The HDTV segment was valued at $91.1 billion in 2010, and in 2015 should be worth $212 billion, yielding a CAGR of 18.4%. The advanced cellular segment, worth $61.2 billion in 2010, should rise to nearly $122 billion in 2015, a CAGR of 14.8%. The GPS segment was worth $18.5 billion in 2010 and in 2015 should be worth $27.3 billion, a CAGR of 8.1%. The segment made up of wireless networks was valued at $13.5 billion in 2010 and in 2015 should be worth $25 billion, a CAGR of 13.1%. The RFID segment, worth $6.4 billion in 2010, should be worth $11.3 billion in 2015, a CAGR of 12%. The digital radio segment, worth $4.9 billion in 2010, should be worth $12.1 billion in 2015, a CAGR of 19.8%. The RF plasma segment was valued at $4.9 billion in 2010 and in 2015 should be worth $6.3 billion, a CAGR of 5.2%. RF technologies use electromagnetic radiation or energy in the 15 kHz-to-300 GHz range to accomplish a wide range of objectives, including broadcasting, two-way communication, manufacturing applications, and security and access control. These technologies are important not only from an economic standpoint but from regulatory, health, environmental, and national security perspectives as well. The technologies covered in this report are no longer considered emerging, but still are expected to grow at a healthy rate over the forecast period. This sets them apart from older, more

mature RF technologies, such as radiotelephone or analog TV broadcasting, whose markets are growing more slowly or not at all. This report is intended for manufacturers, distributors and vendors of RF equipment, RF-oriented consultants and systems integrators, regulatory, health, environmental and other government agencies concerned with RF, researchers, and financial analysts.
