Jumaa Prayer
for the Muslims of Africa and beyond
Intercede with Us for the Muslim World!
You have heard that it was said, You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy. But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven . . . (Mt 5:43-45, NKJV). As God's sons and daughters, we have our marching orders in this spiritual battle. May the Lord fill us with more of His love and grace as we pray for Muslims this week.

Today's Prayer Requests: From Students and Alumni

GABON: A student asks that we pray concerning the growth and politicization of Islam in Gabon. Islam is a minority religion, but the President of the country is a Muslim, and many try to ingratiate themselves by adopting his religion. During the Africa Cup of Nations soccer tournament earlier this year, an interfaith gathering was held, and many have been led to believe that Christians and Muslims serve the same God. Please pray that the churches and believers will become more aware of the dangers of Islam, and take advantage of the freedom they enjoy to build the Kingdom. MALI: We recently prayed concerning the refugees from northern Mali who have been sheltered in schools in Bamako. We thank God that they have been able to move to a Catholic center, freeing the classrooms for the schoolchildren. Please pray for the children as they begin the school year, particularly those who have been displaced and are adjusting. Continue to pray for the situation in the north, that God's Spirit will touch hearts of Muslims there. D. R. CONGO: An alumnus writes that he is now serving as a chaplain at the Christian school run by LaBorne Assembly in Kinshasa. As chaplain, I meet many children from Muslim families, to whom I preach the gospel. They are open and are influenced by the life of prayer that they see. Pray that many will find Jesus through this ministry.

In the News
NIGERIA: This past week the Nigerian army has cracked down on suspected members of the Muslim extremist group Boko Haram in several towns in the north, arresting more than 150, including several influential leaders. A Catholic church was attacked this past Sunday and two killed. According to an AG-Nigeria church official, nearly all the AG pastors and home missionaries in the north are staying at their churches and using strict security. However, many people are leaving the north or are afraid to attend services. Please pray (1) for protection and boldness for believers, (2) for wisdom for government and army leaders, and (3) that many will be confronted with Jesus even as they seek to serve Allah.

From Global Initiative*

Pray for God to work a miracle in the lives of Pakistans 180 million Muslims. Islam is the state religion, with 76% of the people being Sunni Muslims and 20% Shi'a. Sectarian violence occurs between the groups, and the Taliban and Al-Qaida have recently killed scores of Shi'a Muslims. Pray that the Prince of Peace will reveal himself to them all!

For Muslim Women**

Please pray for a Muslim girl who is currently in a Christian drug rehabilitation center in a sensitive country. She has been told she is worthless and has been beaten ruthlessly by family members. She has tried to kill herself; she says her life is hopeless. Pray that she comes to faith, and that the Lord radically heals her body, mind, and spirit.
