RESEARCH DESIGN OF THE STUDY

2.1 Title of the project AN EMPIRICAL STUDY ON INVENTORY MANAGEMENT AT UNITED BREWERIES LTD.

2.2 STATEMENT OF PROBLEM Every business firm big or small has to maintain inventory and it constitute an integral part of the working capital. It has been estimated that inventory in Indian industries constitute a significant portion of current asset inventories require a significant investment not only to acquire them but also hold them investment in inventory is said to be idle but it is unavoidable in any organization manufacturing or trading so inventory cost has become necessary

2.3 OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY 1. To study the effectiveness of inventory management over the past years by conducting ratio analysis, inventory performance indication by analyzing the data using tables. 2. 2.4 SCOPE OF THE STUDY 1. The prime importance of the study is to analysis the maintenance and control of inventory. 2. How do we classification and codification in UNITED BREVERIES LTD 3. The study attempts to find out the existing techniques used in UNITED BREVERIES LTD maintain efficient transportation including the function of supplying and receiving. 4. The study attempts to find out the consumption of material in production process.

2.5 METHODOLOGY:The data of study was collected with the help of interviews and discussion with reference of records maintained in the stores and material department. Primary data:-The primary data are to be collected through the records maintained by the firm. Secondary data:-Are to be collected from companys annual reports, journal books and websites.

2.6 TOOLS OF ANALYSIS There are various tools available for analysis of inventory management 1. Determination of stock level 2. Economic order quantity 3. inventory turnover ratios 4. Just in time inventory of control system.

2.7 Limitations:

The span of the study is confined to only five years. The comparison of various ratios may not have the same conditions, which may result in unrelated comparisons. This study is based on the data supplied by the company. Even though this study throws sufficient light on related topic however they cannot be generalized.

2.8 CHAPTER SCHEME

CHAPTER-1: INTRODUCT ION TO THE STUDY This chapter is introductory in nature. It gives insights to the study and covers the introduction to the research topic, subject background etc.

CHAPTER-2: RESEARCH DESIGN It gives an outline of the project and covers statement of the problem, objectives of the study, tools of data, collection and limitations of the study.

CHAPTER-3: COMPANY PROFILE The chapter gives a brief profile of the company, its history, location, vision and mission.

CHAPTER-4: ANALYSIS AND INTERPRETATIONS OF DATA

CHAPTER-5: SUMMARY OF FINDINGS AND CONCLUSION This chapter summarizes the findings and concludes the report. Bibliography and annexure is also attached.
