East Passyunk Avenue has more than 10,000+ friends, followers and subscribers and we want to help you use social media to connect them with your business. Join us for our new monthly Roundups to compare notes with EPA and other businesses, discuss upcoming promotions, coordinate social media efforts to increase traffic, learn tips and tricks for Facebook and Twitter, and chat with our social media consultants all as a free service provided by the BID. Fall Special Events on East Passyunk Avenue


EPABID continues with our busy calendar of events with options for shoppers, diners, families and grown-ups. All of these events typically bring between 200-500 additional guests to the Avenue please make the most of them by staying open late for evening events, placing a table or clothing rack outside so guests can see your store in advance, and offering a sale or discount for events like Second Saturday. Saturday, October 13: DesignPhiladelphia Second Saturday In addition to regular sales and special events, some stores will have special design-centric workshops and demonstrations for the 5 day DesignPhiladelphia festival, including a Mummers string band performance in front of Kings Music from 1-2:30pm that includes a contest for kids to design a new Mummer costume for a prize of 4 free music lessons or $50 in accessories and a free consultation on guitar and bass drum head design from 11am-3pm. Other events include Big Ideas, Small Space: 2600 Products in 260 Square Feet at Green Aisle Grocery, Jewelry Repair and Restoration at Sermania Jewelry, Green Wall Design at Urban Jungle, Men of Craft at Nice Things Handmade, Simple ReUpholstering Workshop at Era Atomica, Digital Drawings of East Passyunk Avenue by Avalon Clare at Fringe Salon, and the Passyunk Square Home Tour. We encourage shop owners to use this day as a sidewalk sale, as we will have increased foot traffic all day and night. Wednesday, October 17, 6-9pm: QOTA at South Philly Bar & Grill This month our LGBT happy hour will benefit the Philadelphia AIDS Walk. Wednesday, October 24, 5:30-9:30pm: Witch CRAFT Beer Crawl Grown-ups can get in the Halloween spirit with 200+ other craft beer enthusiasts bar hopping down the Avenue! For $6.66, guests receive a hat, stamp card with each bar/restaurant listed, and $3 craft beers. 5 stamps gets them entered to win a $25 gift certificate to all participating bars, stamps are acquired by buying beer or any other food or beverage item. Saturday, October 27, 11am-4pm: Spooky Saturday and Fall Fest This years costume contest is getting some fun additions for the whole family! For the kids well have free pumpkin decorating and crafts, trick or treating and other fun activities as well as some kid-friendly music. The costume contest is staggered by age group in the categories of Funniest, Scariest and Most Original, times are: 11am ages 4 and under, 11:30am ages 5 to 8, 12 noon ages 9 to 12, and 12:30pm doggies! Nice Things Handmade will host a craft show all day and after the costume contest we will have live music by some local musicians. The event is held at the Singing Fountain and in the case of inclement weather, the costume contest and limited activities will be held inside Urban Jungle. November 10 and December 8: Holiday Shopping Second Saturdays Dont miss out on these great opportunities to offer your unique gifts to neighbors and visitors. November 29, 5:30pm: Tree Lighting at the Singing Fountain Passyunk Avenue Revitalization Corporation invites you to help kick off the holiday season with carolers from Alphabet Academy, refreshments from EPA restaurants and, of course, Santa!

Faade Grants
If you would like to make improvements to the exterior of your building we can help! EPABID offers a 50% matching grant up to $1,000 for a long list of eligible projects. In the past year we have funded planters and new plants for planters, exterior painting, security cameras, signs, window decals, lights, and repairs. All exterior projects will be considered, so please ask if you have an idea on how to spruce up your building! Turnaround is quick and refunds are given within a week but you MUST be approved before you start the work. Public Safety Alert Register Your Security Cameras with the Police!
The Philadelphia Police Department is requesting that all property owners with security cameras register them with the City. Why? In the unfortunate case of a crime near your building, they will know to contact you and request a copy of the video. They have informed us that this is an extremely valuable tool to catching criminals. You will also receive a PPD SafeCam window decal, which could be a deterrent to prevent a crime always the best case scenario. Dont have cameras? If your account is current, EPABIDs Faade Program will reimburse you for 50% of the cost of security cameras up to $1,000. Valet Parking on East Passyunk Avenue!


We are excited to announce the addition of 2 more valet zones on East Passyunk Avenue! EPABID, Passyunk Avenue Revitalization Corporation, Councilman Squilla, the Philadelphia Parking Authority and some EPA restaurants have been working together to bring ParkOps to the Avenue. As of now, stands will operate at the Fountain and the municipal parking lot on Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 5pm-12am. Parking is $8 with validation from a participating restaurant, $15 without validation. Valet parking is also available on the 1900 block on Friday and Saturday.

2012 DesignPhiladelphia Festival Comes to East Passyunk!


In October, Second Saturday will be part of the 5-day DesignPhiladelphia Festival. If you own a business, we encourage you to take advantage of the increased foot traffic and put a table outside, offer a special sale or promotion, and stay open late! If the weather is nice, the street will be busiest after 6pm and many of these businesses will be open until 9-10pm. The EPABID is a 501c3 non-profit corporation. As such we are required to have a board of directors and meet on a regular basis. The Board meets on the second Tuesday of every month at 9am at the BID Office. New to the Avenue

If you follow dining news and trends, it would be hard to miss the opening of Will, a new modern Frenchinspired BYOB restaurant at 1911 EPA. Chef and owner Chris Kearse has brought his years of expertise gained at renowned restaurants like Pumpkin, Lacroix, French Laundry and Charlie Trotters to East Passyunk and early reviews couldnt be more positive! Coco Lus is bringing affordable and fashionable clothing and accessories for women and girls to the Avenue at 1931 EPA. The owners have had an on-line business for years and are also pros at planning parties, offering

The Wall Street Warfighters Foundation is now calling the Center for Medicine & Commerce at 1930 South Broad Street home. Led by former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, retired Marine General Peter Pace, their mission is to identify, develop and place service disabled veterans in careers in the financial services industry. The program is a six month in-residence course which includes class work, field work, exam preparation and testing, mentorship, apprenticeships and internships. EPABID Tourist Marketing Efforts


Our promotions committee has been working hard to attract tourists from near and far to the Avenue! We are now up and running on the Explore Boards at the Convention Center, Visitor Center, and other tourist stops around the City and we have purchased ads with a map of the district in CTM maps available at hundreds of locations around the region, Philly Fun Map, Ritz Magazine as well as some local newspapers. Well keep working hard to find more ways to attract visitors to the Avenue!

Below are our current meeting schedules and a brief description of what each committee is responsible for. We also need volunteers for all of our special events and greening projects. Promotions Committee The Promotions Committee is responsible for planning and executing promotional and marketing activities for the Business District, including all of our special events. Public & Green Space Committee The Public & Green Space Committee focuses on our public spaces, with an emphasis on maintaining and increasing greening on the Avenue. Meetings are seasonal, contact Renee if you would like to join the committee. Design Committee The Design Committee evaluates and awards Faade Grants for exterior property improvements. If you have a background in these type of improvements and are interested in joining the committee, contact Renee.
