The paper presents the results of a survey carried out among judges of criminal departments of appellate courts in Poland in which they were asked their opinions on the currently available instruments of law and the existing institutions aimed at combating organised crime. First of all, selected institutions of police regulations, substantive criminal law and criminal procedure were evaluated. That part of the survey was completed through a series of questions about the efficiency of government agencies and private organisations in the prevention of and fighting organised crime.
Next, the directions of change in the criminal policy regulating those issues were reviewed. The results of the survey may be used as a starting point in the discussion on the whole system of instruments available for fighting organised crime.
