Molly Munger Yes on Proposition 38 3220 East Sierra Madre Blvd. Pasadena, CA 91107 Dear Molly: We are writing as fellow supporters of Proposition 38 to urge you to suspend all of the recent Proposition 38 advertisements that portray Proposition 30 in a negative light. When CSBA took the position to support both Propositions 30 and 38 in May, we did so because there was (and remains) a very real concern by school board members that without the passage of one or both propositions, California public schools would be subject to billions of dollars in additional funding cuts - beyond the $20 billion in cuts and funding deferrals that have already undermined our schools. CSBAs support for both propositions also rested on the premise that if voters were confronted with mix messages about the value of both proposals or were pressed to choose between the two initiatives, the passage of one or both could be jeopardized. This assumption was validated through a recent poll that we conducted in concert with other partners including Superintendent of Public Instruction Tom Torlakson. Our findings suggest that negative messaging and/or mixed messaging could significantly impact the chances of either proposition receiving voter approval. It is not in the best interest of public schools and the children we serve to urge voters to choose one proposition over the other. In essence, If you choose, we lose. Schools cant afford to lose this election season. Proposition 38 continues to trail Proposition 30 in the polls and while we continue to urge for the passage of both initiatives, we believe the path to victory for Proposition 38 is compromised by anti-Proposition 30 advertisements. Thus, we strongly encourage you to suspend the

campaigns negative advertisements against Proposition 30 and to focus the campaigns energies on the many positive aspects of Proposition 38. Molly, you have a strong track record of supporting and advocating for our states children and public schools. This commitment is reflected in your involvement today with Proposition 38. We, as fellow supporters of Proposition 38 and public schools, need your support and leadership in averting what could be an epic catastrophe for a generation of Californias students. Sincerely,
