: Melanie Harloff, CPP 1666 Division Street Palmyra, NY 14522 (315) 597-4811 Matthew Nelson, MBA 436 Gleason Circle East Rochester NY 14445 (585) 662-8556 RE: Senior Operations Cost Accountant Dear Ms. Harloff: I have a proven history of success maintaining operational cost controls and prioritization of work in an accounting department. My responsibilities have included the development of the coordinated work processes among various accounting functional areas. As you will conclude after reading my rsum, I trust I will be found worthy of initial and, ideally, subsequent conversations with those involved in this search, during which I will focus on my strengths in cost accounting, budget preparation and analysis, and US GAAP accrual accounting. At Reunel Manufacturing, a steel fabrication company, I had the responsibility to maintain cost accounting systems that both reflected the economic reality of production and integrated with accounting systems. Typically employing a standard cost model or modified activity-based cost model, I analyzed cost pools and drivers to determine the most accurate overhead allocation rates, allowing minimal year-end adjusting and factual interim reporting. Combining financial and managerial accounting, I also maintained inventory ledgers and physically audited inventories in a perpetual inventory system and prepared financial statements and disclosures. As noted on my rsum, I designed the controls and schedules for period closings and was responsible for the master production budget. Although I have not worked for a subsidiary company, I have a thorough understanding of the consolidation process, transfer pricing, and profit in inventory elimination. My forecasting skills are exceptional and highly refined after graduate studies. Using both parametric and nonparametric statistical techniques and Monte Carlo analyses, my analytical skills in cost variance and value-at-risk are unparalleled. The combination of quantitative
financial analysis with rigorous, and current, US GAAP & IFRS training provides me with strategic and technical abilities to lead an efficient accounting department and successful enterprise. Reinforced by my advanced degree in accounting and forthcoming CMA designationexpected next Springit is this skill and intelligence I bring to the senior operations cost accountant position. I trust that the salary range for this position meets my income expectations. I am available to start immediately. Please contact me to schedule an initial telephone interview. Thank you for you consideration. Matthew Nelson East Rochester, NY
