Considering the limitations, procedures and information about performances not stated in this supplement, the basic Aircraft Flight Manual is effective.

SECTION 1 GENERAL
This manual is provided to acquaint the pilot with the limitations as well as normal and emergency operating procedures of the UNIVERSAL EFI-890R Flat Panel EFIS System. The limitations presented are pertinent to the operation of the EFIS as installed in the L 410 UVP-E20 airplane. The EFIS must be operated within the limitations herein specified. EFIS switch names are printed in capital letters (see section 7 of this supplement)

SECTION 2 LIMITATIONS
1. The Universal Avionics "EFI890R Primary Flight Display (PFD) and Navigation Display (ND) System Operator's Manual", UASC publication number 34-20-08.02 revised August 26, 2008, or later appropriate revision, must be available for immediate access by the flight crew. The pilot's and co-pilots PFD and the DCU must be on and operating normally for dispatch. The standby attitude gyro system must be on and operating normally and providing valid attitude information for dispatch. Navigation Display (ND) and Engine Display (ED) are not installed on this airplane. Display limitations Airspeed Trend Vector is not available FAST / SLOW indicator is not available Vision 1 Synthetic Vision Display is not available

SECTION 3 -- EMERGENCY PROCEDURES


1. Complete loss of EFIS presentation: a. b. c. d. 2. Use Standby Instruments for attitude, airspeed, altitude and heading information. Check display brightness controls to ensure maximum brilliance is selected. Check PFD I and PFD II circuit breakers, reset one time if open. Land as soon as possible.

Loss of Normal Electrical Power: Perform procedure BOTH GENERATORS INOPERATIVE in the section 3 of the basic flight manual.

3. In case that one or both Air Data Source(s) have failed (as indicated by red X on airspeed, altitude or vertical speed field): a. If the pilot source has failed select ADC REVERT on the pilots display control panel. This allows the co-pilot's ADC to provide information to both the pilots and co-pilots PFD. ADC 2 is shown on each PFD. If the co-pilots source has failed select ADC REVERT on the pilots display control panel.. This allows the pilot's ADC to provide information to both the pilots and co-pilots PFD. ADC 1 is shown on each PFD. If both ADC's have failed use standby instruments.

4. Pilot attitude source fails, indicated by red ATT on PFD. a. Select ATT/HDG REVERT on the pilots display control panel. This allows the co-pilot's AHRS to provide information to both the pilots and co-pilots PFD. AHRS 2 is shown on each PFD.

5. Co-pilot attitude source fails, indicated by red ATT on PFD. a. Select ATT/HDG REVERT on the co-pilots display control panel. This allows the pilot's AHRS to provide information to both the pilots and co-pilots PFD. AHRS 1 is shown on each PFD.

6. Pilot heading source fails, indicated by red HDG on PFD. a. Select ATT/HDG REVERT on the pilots display control panel. This allows the co-pilot's AHRS to provide information to both the pilots and co-pilots PFD. AHRS 2 is shown on each PFD.

7. Co-pilot heading source fails, indicated by red HDG on PFD. a. Select ATT/HDG REVERT on the co-pilots display control panel This allows the pilot's AHRS to provide information to both the pilots and co-pilots PFD. AHRS 1 is shown on each PFD.

8. Radar Altimeter failed- indicated by red RA FAIL on PFD. a. b. Check radar altimeter circuit breaker. If open, attempt to reset one time only.

SECTION 3A - ABNORMAL PROCEDURES


1. Amber DCU message (Data Concentrator Unit has failed): Check DCU circuit breaker, if open attempt to reset one time only.

NOTE
In the event of a total failure of the DCU the TAWS, TCAS and Flight Director information will not be displayed on either of the pilot's PFDs.

2. If amber flashing ATT, PITCH or ROLL COMP (miscompare) message is displayed, or either Pilot or Copilot attitude display is suspected or faulty a) Use other sources such as standby Attitude Indicator (pitch and roll) or GPS and STBY COMPASS (for HDG) to assist in identifying the faulty AHRS unit. The miscompare message indicates a difference between pilot and copilot pitch and/or roII values. b) If pilot AHRS is in fault, select ATT/HDG REVERT on the pilots display control panel. This allows the co-pilot's attitude source to provide Information to both the pilot and co-pilot PFD. c) If co-pilot AHRS is in fault, select ATT/HDG REVERT on the co-pilots display control panel. This allows the pilot's attitude source to provide information to both the pilot and co-pilot PFD. d) The flashing XXXX COMP annunciation can be changed into a steady light by pushing the COMP RESET button beside the standby airspeed indicator. 3. If amber ASPD COMP (airspeed) or ALT COMP (miscompare) message is displayed, or either Pilot or Co-pilot airspeed, altitude or VSI is suspected faultya) Use other sources such as air traffic control and GPS to assist in determining faulty unit. The miscompare message indicates a difference between pilot and co-pilot air data sources.

NOTE
The AHRS #2, standby airspeed and standby altimeter share co-pilots pitot / static source. Therefore use caution when determining the defective air data source.

Once faulty unit is confirmed: b) If pilot air data computer (ADC) source is in fault, select ADC REVERT on the pilots display control panel. This allows the co-pilot's ADC to provide information to both the pilots and copilots PFD. c) If co-pilot ADC source is in fault, select ADC REVERT on the co-pilots display control panel. This allows the pilot's ADC to provide information to both the pilots and co-pilots PFD. d) The flashing XXXX COMP Annunciator can be changed into a steady light by pushing the COMP RESET button beside the standby airspeed indicator. 4. Amber XBUS annunciation is displayed on the pilot's PFD - (This indicates that the cross side data bus from PFD II has failed). a) Check PFD II circuit breaker, if open attempt to reset one time only.

b) Check PFD I circuit breaker, if open attempt to reset one time only.

Amber BUS I (II) 26V AC signal cell lights on the central warning display display electro When amber BUS I 26V AC signal cell lights (loss of the left PFD power): On the left control panel: INV I / I + II / II switch Both PFD are now powered from BUS II 26 V AC. lift shelter and switch to INV II position

When amber BUS II 26V AC signal cell lights (loss of the right PFD power): On the left control panel: INV I / I + II / II switch Both PFD are now powered from BUS I 26 V AC. lift shelter and switch to INV I position

SECTION 4 - NORMAL PROCEDURES


1. Normal operating procedures for the EFI-890R EFIS system are outlined in the Universal Avionics "EFI890R Primary Flight Display (PFD) and Navigation Display (ND) System Operator's Manual", UASC publication number 34-20-08.02, revised August 26, 2008, or later appropriate revision A test of the EFI-890R display annunciations is performed by depressing the TEST push button, located on the lower bezel at the front of each display. The TEST push button is for annunciation tests only and does not perform a test of the entire display. Each display performs a self test upon initial power application and a continuous monitor while operating. The flight crew will be alerted to faults with the EFI-890R displays through the displays' annunciators. The display brightness is controlled by a toggle switch located on the bottom right comer of each display. Press "-" to decrease the brightness and '+" to increase the brightness.

The crew must set V1 before take-off.

AUTOPILOT TRANSFER The following procedure is used to transfer the Autopilot from the alternate steering source (right hand or left hand PFD): a b Depress the AUTOPIL TRANSFER annunciator. Observe that RT is annunciated in green on the annunciator. Select HDG mode on the flight director mode selector panel. Observe that ON is annunciated in green on the LH AP GPS ROLL STR annunciator and that HDG is annunciated on the flight director mode selector.

When coupled to a GPS the PFD annunciation will be "HDG". AUTOPIL TRANFER LT RT

The PFD displays blinking annunciators when it receives data outside comparator limits. When the pilot activates the Comparator Reset button on the central instrument panel, the annunciators become solid. An annunciated warning, blinking or solid, only disappears when the miscompare condition is resolved. COMPARE RESET

SECTION 7 - SYSTEMS OF AIRPLANE


NOTE
The instruments location is shown in the Supplement - Instrument panels INSTALLATION DESCRIPTION - EFI-890R EFIS SYSTEM The EFI-890R is a flat panel electronic display based upon Active Matrix Liquid Crystal Display (AMLCD) technology. Each display has two controls, test and brightness, located on the lower front bezel. The test key provides for a test of the display annunciators and the brightness keys provide a means to adjust the brightness of the displays. Each display has a configuration module that is programmed at installation through menus displayed on the applicable display. The configuration modules remain attached to the aircraft, behind each display, mounted on the P1 connector strain relief. When any EFI-890R display is removed and replaced, the unit will read its configuration module upon initial power application and be configured appropriately. The Data Concentrator Unit (DCU) provides a means of electrically connecting additional aircraft system to the EFI-890R display when the number of connections exceeds the number of available ports at each display. The DCU has a configuration module that is programmed at installation through menus displayed on the applicable display. The configuration module remains attached to the aircraft, behind the DCU mounting tray. When the DCU is removed and replaced, the unit will read its configuration module upon initial power application and be configured appropriately. One each Primary Flight Display Control Panel provides control and is mounted below each related PFD. This panel provides a RANGE/OPTIONS selection knob, a NAV/BRG SOURCE selection knob, a BARO SET MINIMUMS selection knob, a RA/DA push button, DISPLAY REVERT push button, a ATT/HDG REVERT push button, a ADC REVERT push button, a SRC XFER push button and a TERR, WX, TFC push buttons.

The Course/Heading Panel provides control for both PFDs and is located on the center pedestal. This panel provides dual course selection knobs and a single heading selection knob.

2. Composite COMP 360 HSI HSI display is similar like on the ND (see EFI OM page 5 and 37), but upper data block is not available in the composite display

3. Composite COMP ARC HSI display is similar like COMP 360 HSI, but instead of whole compas rose only 120 arc is displaed (see EFI OM page 5 and 48).

4. Composite COMP 360 MAP Display is similar like COMP 360 HSI display but moreover MAP format is intended to display weather radar information, TCAS and terrain information.

5. Composite COMP ARC MAP it is similar like COMP 360 MAP display, but instead of whole compas rose only 120 arc is displaed.

NOTE
The Universal EFI-890R Bearing Pointers have been designed to display onside navigation sources using the single line pointer and cross side navigation source using the double line pointer. This results in NAV 2, ADF 2 and GPS/FMS 2 being displayed on the single line pointer on the Co-Pilot's PFD. This is opposite the traditional format of having the #1 source on the single line pointer and the #2 source on the double line pointer.
