Guideline for the

blessing
= Before the Blessing Ceremony =

1) Cheon Il Guk Standard

:Through True Parents’ matching in December 2004, the Cheon Il Guk Blessing
Standards were established. (These are qualifications for attending True Parents’
matching)
① Purity : Those who have maintained purity of lineage, and have had no exclusive
romantic relationship (girlfriend/boyfriend) or experience of kissing, dating or beyond.
② Absolute Faith : Resolved to accept True Parents’ matching with absolute faith
③ Exchange Blessing : Willing to accept an exchange (intercultural, international)
Blessing, for the sake of the ideal of humanity becoming one family
④ Public Activities : Resolved to live for the sake of others through public activities for
over three years
⑤ First time Blessing : Those who have never been previously blessed. (Those who
broke TP’s matching are NOT eligible to apply for TP’s matching again)
⑥ Health : Healthy mind and body

※ In December 2005, there was a “2nd Matching”(tentative title) held at the same time as
the matching based on Cheon Il Guk standards.
※ There is a need for confirmation of Cheon Il Guk standards after the Special Amnesty
(standards ① and ⑤ are related to the Amnesty, whereas ②, ③ and ④ are the candidate’s
attitude toward the Blessing)
※ Strict observance of the Cheon Il Guk standard is necessary, along with educating all
candidates to keep the same standard as a goal.

2) Age of Candidates
:17 years and up. In the 2nd Generation Department, the candidates are classified as
follows, with the 7-year formula course as a standard.
① 24 years old or younger (Student): Focus more on education and starting the 7-year
course, rather than Blessing and starting family life
1. 21-day workshop standard
2. Starting and working on completing the 7-year course (STF, CARP, MTF)
② Over 25 years old (working 2nd generation):Support Blessing and starting family
after confirmation of intention and faith guidance.
1. Principled view of marriage
2. Willing to take responsibility for starting family

1. 21-day workshop standard = a.Unification Principle/ b.True Parents’ Life
Course/ c.The Significance and Value of the Blessing
2. 1 year or more of STF training (together with a recommendation by a local leader) is
recognized as equivalent to a 21-day workshop
3. For high school students only, participation in Jr. STF and a recommendation by a
local leader is treated as a condition that substitutes participating in a 21-day workshop
* Based on the 70-day workshop tradition = make the standard of attending a 21-day
workshop a requirement before the Blessing.
* Acceptance of educational curriculums of affiliated organizations (such as the Sun
Moon University Theology and Pure Love Departments) as being equivalent to a 21-day
workshop will be decided based on contents of the curriculum.

② 2nd Generation Blessing Workshop (Must have attended no more than 2 years

prior to the Blessing)
③ Individual Interviews: 1. Headquarters Interview (confession) / 2. Field
Interview (with local church leader)
④ 7-day Fast: 7-day fast (also applies to parents’ matching candidates)
=> Three 3-day fasts or a 21-day breakfast fast (In case of health problems, a 40-day 21
minute Hoon Dok Hae condition can substitute this)

4) Forms of Matching
① True Parents’ Matching: Mostly for Cheon Il Guk standard matching and “2nd
Matching” candidates 24 years old or younger.
② Parents’ Matching: Active support and cooperation (through Parents’
Convocations and headquarters introductions), mostly for candidates over 25 years old

= After the Blessing Ceremony =

5) 40-day separation devotion period and starting family

① 40-day separation: A period of separation, to offer gratitude and devotion to Heaven.
(This is not an indemnity condition or a condition to separate Satan. This is a time to focus
on my vertical relationship with Heaven, rather than the relationship with my spouse.)
* For the December 2004 Blessing, True Parents asked candidates to observe a 50-day
separation period. However the tradition of 40-day separation periods for 2nd generation
families remains the same.

② Marriage Life: Should start only after enough dialogue among spouses has occurred
and there is an understanding between both families. (differences between men and
women and between cultures should be taken into consideration)

<Guidelines concerning married life>

1. Devotion Period (40-day separation)
2. Developing a brother-sister relationship (heart) with spouse (enough dialogue and
understanding, creating a heartistic relationship between the two families.)
3. Preparing the realm of the heart of husband and wife (expressing affection and
skinship, developing communication)
4. Starting married life (marital relations and planning family life)
* Guidance for the first day – sanctification of mind, body and environment, wearing
holy robes, bow and prayer of gratitude
③ Family Life(living together) :
* In February 2005, True Parents directed to start family after completing the formula
course and school.
=> With the 7-year course as a standard, it is recommended to start family life after 25
years of age.

6) Cheong Pyeong 40-day workshop

:In February 2005, True Parents directed Cheon Il Guk families to attend a Cheong
Pyeong 40-day workshop.
=>In August 2005, there was a special 40-day workshop for Cheon Il Guk families. The
purpose was for the couples to realize their providential missions as Cheon Il Guk
families.
① Cheong Pyeong 40-day workshop => Each family should attend
② Cheon Il Guk Family Education (proposal) – Each nation should organize
regular education, step-by-step education, and international exchange
=> In the future, a proposal and plan for after-Blessing family
education will be prepared

7) 2 years and a half formula course (30-month public activities)

:In February 2005, True Parents directed Cheon Il Guk families to devote 30 months to
public service => this should be a policy for 2nd generation families
① For students = Starting or continuing the 7-year course
② For working 2nd generation = Helping the 7-year course process (by guiding Jr.STF
and 2nd generation students) * In the future, there will be youth movements
* The course to become a Cheon Il Guk central family (to be done with spouse)
=> Started in August 2005 = to be completed in December 2007 (completion
ceremony)
=> The way to manage Cheon Il Guk families Blessed after December 2005 will
be decided in the future
(Please don’t manage other families until further guidance is given)
