Important Bulletin
Military Family Appreciation Month
Each year the President signs a proclamation declaring November Military Family Month. Last year President Obama said that our nation owes "each day of security and freedom that we enjoy to the members of our Armed Forces and their families. Behind our brave service men and women, there are family members and loved ones who share in their sacrifice and provide unending support." This annual proclamation marks the beginning of a month-long celebration of the Military Family in which the Department of Defense and the nation will honor the commitment and sacrifices made by the families of the nation's service members. Throughout the month of November, military families serving around the world are honored through a variety of observances and recognized for their commitment and the many contributions they make every day in support of the military and our nation. Military families are inspirational models of devotion, resilience and patriotism. For their daily sacrifices in support of Navy missions and every Americans freedom, Fleet and Family Support Centers (FFSCs) salute Navy families. FFSCs offer services to enhance families wellbeing and Psychological health, provide resources for child and youth education and development, and increase career and educational opportunities for spouses. Programs and services are currently delivered from 80 sites worldwide. Find your local Fleet and Family Support Center.

TAP
Transition Goals Plans Success, known simply as Transition GPS, replaces the 20-year-old Transition Assistance Program, or TAP. In a sweeping overhaul of the 20-year-old TAP, as part of the VOW to Hire Heroes Act passed in 2011, Transition GPS takes military members through a week-long class, compared to the original TAPs mandatory two to four hours of separation counseling. The Transition Assistance Program has been redesigned into a comprehensive, mandatory program that includes pre-separation counseling, a military to civilian skills review, a VA benefits briefing and application signup, financial planning support, job search skills building, and individual transition plan preparation
