The project activity consists in the generation of power for supplying to grid using biogenic waste generated in local poultry farms. The biogenic waste i.e. poultry litter used by the proposed project would have been dumped near poultry farms to naturally decay in the absence of the project activity causing atmospheric release of methane which is a potent greenhouse gas. Thus the project activity is also avoiding production of methane from natural decay of poultry litter. The (per EB meeting report 20, Annex 8) Biomass residue is defined as biomass byproducts, residues and waste streams from agriculture, forestry, and related industries. As the poultry farms is considered as a agro based industry, its by-product poultry litter is considered as renewable biomass. a) Functioning details of the PP/CME in brief (Max 150 words) Annapurna Renewables Private limited is a part of Malaxmi Group which is an infrastructure development enterprise established by accomplished technocrats in the year 2006 to deliver world class infrastructure and other projects, headquartered at Hyderabad, India. This young and dynamic group has successfully executed large format Power Projects. The group is equally active and passionate in the areas of Virtual Energy, Agribusiness and Property Development in select sectors.For more information about the PP kindly refer the below link:http://www.malaxmi.in/non-conventional.asp b) Experience of PP/CME in CDM activity (Max 150 words): PP does not have any prior experience in CDM activity. c) Why PP/CME is implementing this CDM activity(maximum 150 words) In the absence of the project activity, the equivalent amount of electricity would have been generated by the operation of grid connected fossil fuel based power plants. The Project activity will thus reduce the anthropogenic emissions of greenhouse gases (GHGs), SOx, NOx and particulates in to the atmosphere commonly associated with the equivalent amount of electricity generation from the fossil fuel dominated grid connected power plants. The biogenic waste i.e. poultry litter used by the proposed project would have been dumped near poultry farms to natural decay in the absence of the project activity causing atmospheric release of methane. So the PP had implemented this project activity under the consideration of CDM revenues. d) How PP/CME will implement this Project. [If developed with the help of consultant please provide Name and contact details of the consultant] Technology of the project activity is direct combustion of poultry litter in a boiler to generate high pressure and high temperature steam from water. The steam will then be used to generate electricity by a turbine driven alternator. Consultant is not involved in the project activity. By analyzing the comparative analysis, it can be concluded that the project is additional at all load factors analyzed in the sensitivity analysis. Considering the CDM revenue, the project IRR increases to bridge the gap between project IRR without CDM revenue and established benchmark. The CDM registration and the resulting revenue from CER sales helps the project to overcome the barrier outlined above, most notably project IRR. Thus the project is additional. The filled in survey forms showed that the following are the benefits from the project activity. Good supply of electricity to the villages Increased employment opportunities It has added to the electricity generation of the state grid without causing any pollution.

Overall the project activity was received well by the local stakeholders and they are encouraging the implementation of the project activity. The survey forms categorically show that there are no adverse comments regarding the project (e) Issues Raised by Villagers S.No 1 Stakeholders Information Comments received R.Prasad Rao, Self- The Participant asked about the capacity of the employment, Nuzvid village project activity. Project developer responded that the capacity is 7.5 MW. Lakshmi Narayana, Local The Participant expressed the problems faced from farmer,Nuzvid village. the accumulation of poultry litter in the nearby poultry farms. P.Jagan Mohan Employed, Rao, Self The participant requested the project developer to give preference to the local unemployed youth in the employment. Project developer agreed and assured that the local people would be employed in the project suitably depending on the skill level. The participant raised the issue of ash handling and disposal from the project. Project developer responded that all ash generated by the project activity would be collected using closed systems and sold to farmers as the ash generated from burning of poultry litter is a good organic manure. He further stated that the ash quantity is very less due to the small size of the project. During collection and transportation, closed systems and closed trucks would be used to avoid leakage of ash.

J.JayaRaju,Farmer,Nuzvid village

Mr.Nagavalleeswara Rao,Local The participant asked the project developer how Farmer,Nuzvid Village the poultry litter will be transported and moist litter would be handled. Project developer responded that the litter would be transported using closed trucks. Further, project developer informed that the moist litter would be available only during monsoon season, during that times, the litter would be dried within the project plant using boiler exhaust gases. Due to closed trucks, the moist litter would not pose any leakage problems during transportation Mr.Rajaraman,Local The Participant asked the Project developer how Farmer,thallavali Village will you ensure that there will not be groundwater contamination due to the project activity. The project developer addressed that the project activity will not contaminate the ground water and moreover it uses air cooled condenser instead of water cooled condenser.

(f) How the issues raised by the local villagers will be addressed In general there was no adverse comment on the project activity by the local stakeholders. The project proponent assured that there will be a significant reduction in power cut hours and increase in the voltage profile of the power supplied. The stakeholders have given very positive feedback and thus no measures were required to be taken. However, project proponents assured that during the operation of the project activity any concerns regarding the project activity can be brought to their notice and quick action would be taken up to any negative impacts from the project activity affecting the stakeholders. The project proponent thanked the local stakeholders for their co-operation in installation and operation of the cogeneration plant. 8 Commitment of sharing 2% of the Certified Emission Reduction (CERs) for the development of the local communities (Exclusively for large scale projects) Basic purpose of this commitment is to share 2% of the CERs revenue to support the local communities in achieving their developmental goal. It may be done in different ways:
(i) (ii) (iii) (iv)

Project Proponent (PP) may directly share the amount with respective village Panchayts and monitor their developmental activities; PP may develop a plan and implement it for the betterment of the villages; PP may involve villagers and plan and implement it jointly; or PP may decide other means and ways;

For the public knowledge about its support, PP should discuss it with the villagers and inform details to the Village Panchayt, block and thesil office and it should be part of discussion during the stakeholder consultation. Follow the template accordingly. a.
