Progressive Maryland's 2012 Voting Guide: "Improving the lives of working families"

The 2012 General Election will be Tuesday Nov. 6 nationwide. Federal offices on the ballot statewide include President, one U.S. Senate seat, and all eight of Maryland's members of the U.S. House of Representatives. No statewide or General Assembly offices will be on the ballot, but seven statewide ballot questions will be. In addition many county ballots contain one or more local ballot questions to be decided, as well as Board of Education and other local offices. Early Voting Hours Extended: Wed. Oct. 31- Friday Nov. 2, 8 am-9 pm. Find your county's early voting centers. Also please note an error in the English-to-Spanish translation of Question 6, may cause some of the state's Spanish-speaking voters to vote the opposite of their intended vote.

Progressive Maryland's 2012 Voting Guide, Page 2 Vote FOR Question 4: Public Institutions of Higher Education-Tuition rates Establishes the Maryland Dream Act: Any student who graduates from a Maryland high school (with at least 3 years attendance) is eligible to pay in-state tuition rates at public community colleges in the state regardless of immigration status, provided 3 provisions are met. Read more/Volunteer Vote FOR Question 6: Civil Marriage Protection Act/Marriage Equality Established that Maryland's civil marriage laws apply to ALL couples regardless of sexual orientation. The law places no obligation on religious organizations to perform marriages that do not conform to their values. Read more/Volunteer Vote AGAINST Montgomery County Question B. Question B would take away Montgomery County police officers' 30-year-old right of "effects" collective bargaining providing them the right to discuss scheduling and assignment changes with management before implementation - a matter of fairness and importance to officers' families.
