Natalie du Toit, goes the extra mile in off road racing!

The legendary South African Paralympics swimming legend, Natalie du Toit, proved that her talents stretches far beyond swimming as she successfully completed a National off-road racing event in Thaba Nchu as navigator for Archie Rutherford in the SA Warranties sponsored Nissan Navara. She followed former Proteas fast bowler Vinnige Fanie de Villiers and former Springbok rugby star Stefan Terblanche who sat alongside Rutherford at the Sun City 400 and the 4x4 Mega World 400 events. Natalie, one of only a few female contestants in the off-road championship event, exchanged her swimming costume for a race overall and took on the challenge of dust and mud with her normal high levels of enthusiasm and dedication. The 400km race presented its challenges as the team experienced two punctures on route, Archie and Natalie however took it in their stride and finished at an impressive 10th overall!

As expected, Natalie was a massive hit with the supporters. Her sparkling personality, humble attitude and wonderful sense of humour completely inspired and entertained everyone around her. At the end of the event, Natalie also spoke at the prize giving, sharing her racing and swimming experiences with the audience and there is no doubt she has left a major impression on this sport, commented Terence Marsh, Regent Racing Team Principal.
I loved every second of the event. commented Natalie. This experience falls within the same memory bank as winning some of my Olympic gold medals. A big thank you to Regent Racing and their sponsors for affording me with the opportunity of a lifetime and more importantly the opportunity to tick off one of the items on my bucket list! Off-Road racing supporters can now look forward to our last event of the year on the 23rd and 24th of November at the Kloof Country Club in Glenharvie, which is approx. 45 mins from JHB. Our guest celebrity for this event will be none other than the legendary Jonty Rhodes who takes over the hot set from Natalie in an attempt to be the first guest celebrity to break into the top 10!

Event Overview:
It was virgin terrain for the teams as this was the first visit for the Championship to the area. The route comprised of fast and technical terrain and this together with the dry and dusty conditions led to a challenging and tough event.

The race preparation of the race cars was once again immaculate with all the cars finishing the event once again a job well done by Graeme Thornton and his team!
