Season 3, Episode 3 Read Along

Hey Sara, hows it going? Im just getting ready for the election! Hey Justin! So am I, but I dont know which candidate to vote for. Well Sara, it all depends on what your beliefs or opinions are. In this years election, there are two candidates representing different political parties. Mitt Romney is the Republican party candidate. The Republican partys symbol is an elephant. Some famous United States presidents that were Republicans are Abraham Lincoln, Theodore Roosevelt, Ronald Regan, and both George Bush and his son, George W. Bush. Wow Justin, those are some great past presidents! But what about the other political party? Thats a good question, Sara. The other political party is the Democratic Party. Our current president, Barack Obama is the incumbent and running for a second term as President. Their symbol is a donkey. Some presidents of the past that were Democrats are Andrew Jackson, Franklin D. Roosevelt, John F. Kennedy, and Bill Clinton. Those are some great presidents from both parties! If Obama wins again, can he run for a third time? Thats another good question, Sara! As a matter of fact, the President of the United States may only serve for two consecutive terms, or eight years total. That means if Obama wins again, he cannot run for office again. Thats really interesting, Justin! After all of those facts, Im really excited to vote! Yes it is! Well, I better go to the polls! Happy Voting, Sara! You too, Justin!
