BASKIN & ROBBINS HISTORY AND BACKGROUND: Baskin-Robbins is a global chain of ice founded by Burt baskin and Irvine Robbins in 1953, from the merging of their respective ice cream parlors, in Glendale, California. It claims to be the world's largest ice cream franchise, with more than 5,800 locations, 2,800 of which are located in the United States. Baskin-Robbins sells ice cream in over 30 countries. The Baskin-Robbins ice cream parlors started as separate ventures from Burt Baskin and Irv Robbins, owning Burt's Ice Cream Shop and Snowbird Ice Cream respectively. Snowbird Ice Cream featured 21 flavor. When the separate companies merged in 1953, this concept grew to 31 flavors. Baskin-Robbins is known for its "31 flavors" slogan. The number 31 was chosen so a customer could have a different flavor every day of any month. Burt and Irv also believed that people should be able to sample flavors until they found one they wanted to buy.1948, Burt and Irv opened six stores. In 1949, the companys production facility opened in Burbank. They made the decision to sell the stores to the managers, thus becoming one of the first franchised food service businesses. In 1953, Baskin-Robbins hired CarsonRoberts Advertising who recommended adoption of the 31 as well as the pink (cherry) and brown (chocolate) polka dots and typeface that were reminiscent of the circus. Between 1949 and 1962, the corporate firm was Huntington Ice Cream Company. The name succeeded The Baskin-Robbins Partnership and was eventually changed back to BaskinRobbins, Inc. on November 26, 1962. Baskin-Robbins also was the first to introduce ice cream cakes to the publicans the iconic small pink spoon. Baskin-Robbins was owned by the founders until purchased in 1967 (just prior to Burt Baskin's death) by the United Brands Company. In 1972, the company went public for the only time in its history when United Brands sold 17% in an IPO. A year later, the British food company j.lyons and co.purchased Baskin-Robbins from United Brands and all public stock. J. Lyons then merged with Allied Breweries, becoming Allied-Lyons in 1978. Allied-Lyons then merged with Pedro Domecq S.A. in 1994, becoming Allied Domecq. Baskin-Robbins, Togo's and Dunkin' Donuts. Baskin-Robbins has maintained solid, controlled growth through development of stores that combine Dunkin' Donuts and Togo's. Recently the company announced plans to aggressively grow their standalone locations, actively seeking franchises.now there are more than 5,800 locations of baskin robbins across nation with more than 2,700 nationwide.now a days baskin robbins is a part of dunkin brands, which is a highly organized and a successful brand.this brand belives that their success is due to the fact that they believes in treating everyone with respect and fairness from their employees to their franchisees to the farmer who grows their coffee thats why they are empowered to reach their goals.

BASKIN AND ROBBINS WE SELL FUN NOT JUST ICE CREAM Every person has its own inspirations its own values and choices.ice-creams were always been my greatest inspiration so do the ice-cream makers.when we say ice-cream makers who can beat the two great leaders of ice-cream makers BURTON BASKIN AND IRVINE ROBBINS.Not all advices are wasted. It was an advice of a father that made Irv robbins to think of creating own flovors of ice-creams for the ice-cream lovers.baskin and robins were brothers in law and they had a same dream to creat divine ice-creams they both had a mutual love of old-fashioned ice-cream and a desire to provide customer a variety of flavours made with ingredients of a highest quality in a fun inviting atmosphere.they were only teenagers when they decided to capitalize on Americas love of ice-cream. As a teen, Irv worked in his father's ice cream store. During World War II, Burt was a Lieutenant in the U.S. Navy and produced ice cream for his fellow troops. When the wold war 2 was over they decided to change their dream of creating icecream into a reality.they both did it in a very exciting way.they both opened a separate ventures they wanted to see their own individual capabilities so irv robbins opened a venture with a name snowbird ice-cream which offered 21 flavors and burt baskin opened burtons icecream .later they murged with each other and. As the number of stores grew, Burt and Irv recognized that to maintain the high standards they set in the beginning, each store would require a manager who had an ownership interest in its overall operation. Even though they didn't realize it at the time, the two founders had pioneered the concept of franchising in the ice cream industry.then together they purchased their own dairy for the first time in 1954. This business decision allowed them to have complete control over the production of their ice cream, and the development of new ingredients and flavors. In 1954, Baskin-Robbins put their product on the line against their competitors at the Los Angeles County Fair. That year they won their first Gold Medal and set the pattern for county and state fair participation, earning Gold Medals for Baskin-Robbins Ice Cream every year since that first contest. The "31 flavors" concept was introduced that same year to bring attention to a deep menu that featured a flavor for every day of the month.Baskin and robins served their life after their retirement in creating more fun flavours for the ice-cream lovers.Baskin died of heart attack on 1969 and Robbins died on 2008.Doctors claims that robin was suffering from high severe diabeties due to over consumption of ice-cream everyday.Baskin and robbins were super creative and were always building delicious ideas in their minds for serving more to the ice-cream lovers.May their soul rest in peace.
