India's education sector is very immature and needs immense improvements, and the improvements in this sector will

contribute to enormous growth not only in this sector but is other sectors as well. There is a lack of education , which has prevented India from being a developed country and the major cause is lack of educated individuals. As already mentioned by the statistics it is quite clear from the statistics that more than 50% drop out even before finishing primary schools. Thus it is appalling to see that in spite of all the efforts taken up by that government to educate Indian citizens, there hasnt been too much of an improvement in this sector. It is important to educate all the Indians so that they have a broader mindset in comparison to the olden ideologies that they reiterate to the coming generation and thus prevents any space for growth. Education is the biggest asset that an individual possesses and I have a dream to see all the citizens of India to possess this asset. The cause of most of the problems in India today is lack of literacy and thus I would want to work in the education sector, so that I could contribute towards eliminating the problems that our citizens face in todays world. Teach for India fellowship, gives me the opportunity to impart my knowledge and skills that I have imbibed throughout my years of education to the less privileged children who are as deserving as anyone of us . There is an urge for change in this organization that motivates me to step up and thus bring about a further change together that we both endeavor to improve. Other than the main motive for change in the education sector, it is an added bonus for me to learn and engage with outstanding individuals from corporate and social sectors, thus helping me to grow as an individual thereby acquiring leadership skills and abilities. This fellowship proves to be a journey which is mutually beneficial.

While I was a student in Delhi University pursuing Psychology (Hons.) I wanted to be part of the contemporary dance society in college as I was very passionate about dancing. But it wasnt easy for me to be a part of the team as there were many challenges that I had to face : Personal As my parents objected on me coming home late from college because I stayed far from the university and the dance society demanded me to stay in college till 12 am sometimes. Educational- Psychology is a demanding course so, there is a lot of work that needed to be completed but at the same time there is scarcity of time as would be practicing after classes. Physical- As you are physically exhausted by the end of the day it is important to maintain equilibrium. While I was faced with a plethora of challenges, there was a great pressure to make time for everything, from doing something that your passionate about and love doing, to achieving academically as we all

want to grow up to be successful professionals, to making sure that you dont get people upset who care for you the most .I was in a dilemma and didnt know how I should manage all of this together. There was pressure from teachers as well as I was also holding a post in the department and thus it was also my duty and responsibility to provide to the needs that the post required. The steps that I took to address this were simple, not that I chartered a plan on pen and paper but I knew exactly how I will achieve all of this together. I just knew that I would manage through this. All I needed to do was contribute everywhere possible and maintaining equilibrium. I Explained to my parents that this is something that I wanted to do and love doing, thus as my parents have always encouraged me towards doing what I love to do they supported my decision and did all that they could to resolve the problem of me coming home late which was not acceptable to them due to security reasons, they were also concerned about my studies as they thought I would not be able to impart the time and effort that the course required due to the multiple things that I was doing. And as far as other things are concerned all I had to do was make time for everything, and thereby contributed everywhere respectively. So, the result was extremely rewarding as I had done really well academically obtaining a 1 division , we won several intercollege dance competitions and I did live up to the expectations of my department. Therefore, I can say holistically the challenge was worth every bit.
