I am not sure if they still do the experiment in school where they have students try and complete simple

tasks while wearing a pair of glasses known as beer goggles. I have fond memories of classmates and myself having a very hard time just walking across the room while wearing these disorienting glasses. I remember a lot of laughter and poking fun.( I also have later memories of stumbling around without the glasses, but that is a story for another time.) This experiment has more than likely been banned, due to its being offensive, discriminatory to alcoholics, it affecting childrens self-esteem, or some other political correct nonsense. The more I think on these memories, the more I realize that the majority of people in this country seem to be permanently wearing a set these blinders. I look around at how divided and clueless the general population seems to be. Everyone has some opinion or opposition to someone elses ideals. We cant seem to come together on anything anymore, except for the occasional agreement on how the Jersey Shore should have never aired, or that a certain football team is doing well. It seems to me this divide is a development from the majority of peoples mentality being one of not caring about the real issues, and being distracted by absolutely absurd things that have no real meaning or substance. Most people who know me, know that I talk a lot, too much possibly. I do however think on the things I say and others responses, and seems as of late, the responses I get are ill willed or misinformed. It seems that a lot of the arguing or disagreement is just for the sake of controversy. I dont know if it us just being a product of a controversial environment, or if we as humans just crave a fight. Since it seems the old way of fighting, ie. slugging each other in the face, is no longer tolerable by todays standards, we just look for fights in our daily conversations. Either way most of the things I seem to be able to debate with people, and have any kind of informed or intelligent response, seem to be on meaningless topics or I hear passed down ideology that the speakers great grandparents taught them without any understanding or information to back up the ideas or opinions. I have just become perplexed by the ignorance to what is going on around us, and how what was once the greatest nation on the planet is daily losing its footing. The average American today seems to forget that the power of this country lies within the masses. We constantly give up more and more of our freedom and power, yet very few seem to genuinely care or even realize the fact. The phrase We The People seems to be no more than some slogan for a time that has since passed. When in reality the meaning is still the same, and the old truth still holds the same weight. We just have to start paying attention and stand up for our values and beliefs. Anymore, a very small group seems to be able over throw the majority because the majority feels obligated to cave for fear of being ridiculed by the media or the opposition. This line of thinking is what has led us into a society that is constantly in turmoil and unrest. The sad part is, that it is not the will of the logical that keeps them from stepping out, but the fear of being singled out that keeps the fundamentals that the country was founded on silenced. When someone with values and morals actually speaks out, they are more often than not backed into a corner and broken down because others are afraid to stand with them. I look into my sons eyes and wonder what kind of world he might live in if the founding fathers were running things today, or on less of an extreme, the people of our great nation had not twisted and distorted the ideology that this country was founded on. Make no mistake our founding fathers based

the entire structure of which the country was to be run on GOD. The rules and the guidelines they left us with in the Constitution hinged on the population believing in a Creator. We have since lost sight of that, and the groundwork that was laid will forever be worthless until we get back to those core values of life, liberty and property. Until we can stop bickering over the small and unnecessary things, it seems this road to destruction will continue. The next time emotion is stirred in you in an argument over who should have won American Idol, think about how much better your time and lung capacity could be used, to actually speak out against the tyranny that this ruining our future generations chances of achieving the American dream. End rant.
