Eco-friendly Madox earns national recognition with Pro Builder Gold Award
Madox, the 131-home eco-friendly rental building being developed by Fields Development Group in Jersey Citys historic Paulus Hook, is beginning to gain national recogni-tion for its environmentally-conscience building practices and design and responsible approach to urban redevelopment. The seven-story building recently received a Gold Award for Green Design in the 2012 Professional Builder Design Awards. The award will be presented during the International Builders Show taking place this month in Las Vegas. Judged by a panel of prominent architects from around the country, the awards recognize companies and buildings that produce homes that illustrate design quality and success in the market -place. Madox received high marks for each of the judging criteria, including Exterior Design/Curb Appeal, Interior Architecture, Sales/Marketing Success, Construction Quality/Cost Efficiency and Green Features. The building will also be under contract for at least two years to provide 35 percent of its electricity from renewable sources. Nearly a dozen residences have already been leased at Madox during the preview period, a number that is expected to rise dramatically as the building approaches its official grand opening date. In addi-tion to conventional leases, short-term leases with a minimum length of four months will be offered, providing a level of flexibility, in particular, to area residents who were displaced by Hurricane Sandy.
