Dear colleagues, We would like to invite you to attend the Society for Integrative Oncology Shanghai International Symposium: Integrative Oncology Theory, Research, and Practice, April 25-26, 2008, Shanghai, China. The Society for Integrative Oncology (SIO; http://www.integrativeonc.org is a multi-disciplinary organization of professionals dedicated to studying and facilitating the cancer treatment and recovery process through the use of complementary therapies. Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) has attracted increasing attention worldwide with its long history, complete theoretical system, and rich clinical practice. Medical oncologists, pharmaceutical corporations, and biotechnology companies around the world are all aware of the potential that exists for TCM in the fight against cancer. TCM has become a major part of complementry and integrative medicine. Extensive resources are now being spent on conducting high quality research of TCM for oncology both in China and aboard. In addition, most major medical centers and cancer centers have a great interest in integrative medicine and especially TCM. The SIO Shanghai International Symposium is an opportunity for oncologists, TCM practitioners, and other healthcare professionals to learn about the latest research on TCM for cancer. In addition to conventional pharmaceutical and biotechnology products, investigators will also present the results of research examining a broad range of complementary topics, including acupuncture, nutritional products, massage therapy, and herbal medicines. The Shanghai International Symposium will be an opportunity to foster international collaborations between investigators in China and around the world in the investigation of TCM. We warmly welcome you to attend the Society for Integrative Oncology Shanghai International Symposium and look forward to seeing you in Shanghai.
