Normally, the AWA Template is like above. Everybody follows the template but makes the template slightly changed to attract or get maximum number on AWA. However, I changed this accordingly and typed the following template on my final exam. My suggestion to you is to add as much modifier as possible such as the argument that the author presented here in the context, the author of the apparent argument, the reasons EXPLICITLY offered to support to the conclusion, and the assumption that the author of the argument consider for judgment. Write at least 500 words on your AWA response if possible. Mind it do not make a spelling, punctuation, and grammatical mistake on your response. My AWA Template: The argument presented above by the author claims that. the reasons EXPLICITLY offered to support to the conclusion are . The argument noted above is unconvincing and inconclusive one, though it, at first glance, seems to be logical. The apparent argument is seriously flawed for its underlying assumption, because the author of the argument oversimplifies the logical relationship in a number of ways. Firstly, the argument that the author showed here assumes that. The causal relationship, the author showed here is not backed by the statistical information. Secondly, the author of the argument claims that. Moreover, the argument given in the context takes simultaneous effect of the assumption on the subsequent conclusion The author of the argument leaves the conclusion based on subjectivity rather than objectivity. Such type of decision must be taken on fact basis instead of personal judgmental result. To make the argument vivid and coherent, the author should have considered certain issues: Likewise. In sum, the argument is weak on several grounds. The argument can be strengthen, if the author clearly mention all the relevant factors. In order to justify the merit of a certain situation it is necessary to have full knowledge of all contributing factors.
Now problem: The following appeared in the editorial section of a national news magazine: Our promotional price reductions on energy drinks have been highly successful, as we have seen a dramatic increase in unit sales. Further, surveys of our consumers indicate that this promotion was favorably received by the majority of our customers. Therefore, to improve our companys profitability and enhance its perception in the eyes of consumers, similar price reductions should be offered on all drinks produced by our firm. Discuss how well reasoned you find this argument. Point out flaws in the argument's logic and analyze the argument's underlying assumptions. In addition, evaluate how supporting evidence is used and what evidence might counter the argument's conclusion. You may also discuss what additional evidence could be used to strengthen the argument or what changes would make the argument more logically sound.

My response:
The argument presented above by the author claims that similar price reductions should be offered on all drinks produced by firm. The reasons offered to support the conclusion are one price reduction on energy drinks has been successful in increasing sales, majority of the firm's customers favor for this promotion, and this practice will facilitate further profitability for the firm as well. The argument is unconvincing and inconclusive, though at first glance it seems to be logical and coherent. The argument is seriously flawed for its underlying assumption, because the author oversimplifies the problem and its solution in a number of ways. Firstly, the argument assumes that as the price reduction on the energy drinks worked well, increasing sales of the unit of drinks by favorable customer's response, same promotion practice will work for other drinks produced by the firm is not convincing. The causal relationship the author showed here is not backed by the statistical information. The argument showed majority of the firm's customer favored but that does not mean total number of the customer base for drinks market total sales for the period. Secondly, the author claims that effect of one thing will cause to same action to similar or other things in turn, considering contrapolating measurement of the strategy. By knowing the effect of one event judge the other event is not desirable whether that may be similar one. the author showed the majority of the firm's customer favored the price reduction practice but he does not offer any exact number, because there may have the survey was conducted on only a few customer who are already favored for the firm for other reasons or who are already biased for the firms. Here, some doubts prevail as well. Moreover, the argument takes the simultaneous effect of the ambiguous assumptions on the subsequent conclusion. If the price reduction strategy works well on energy drinks, it will affect the same on other drinks as well. It makes the argument ambiguous and doubtful. Two events occur at the same time does not impel to affect on the same ground for the other event. The next point is that the author does not consider other alternatives to the conclusion to be valid. He showed the relationship that price reduction will increase sales as the strategy favored by majority of the customers and sales will increase profit. But in reality price reduction does not always increase profit for the firms. The price reduction promotional strategy affects consumer's long term product perception. Consumers feel dubious on these products for reducing price in short term. Consumers think the products may not serve well in the market and the firm plans to reduce its inventory by this strategy. So the author's intended argument falls under this trap that makes the argument ludicrous and unconvincing. Likewise, the argument that the author of the argument stated with ambiguous structural reasoning could be backed up by the aforementioned points, causing the structural relationship of the premise to conclusion strengthens and logically sounds. The effect of one event related to same product line promotional strategy could never bring about the intended outcome of the other items considering for the next attempt of the strategy implemented. In sum the argument is weak on several grounds. the argument can be strengthen, if the author clearly mention all the necessary factors to the premise part of the argument with some real facts or statistical information. In order to justify the merit of a certain situation of situation, it is necessary to have full knowledge of the relevant and contributing factors.
