1 Denition

2 Mode of operation
For GeoCENTREX the feature Call Pick Up (CPU) can be created in different variants: Common Call Pick Up (CCPU) Group Call Pick Up (GCPU) Direct Call Pick Up (DCPU) Customer Premises Equipment Call Pick Up (CPECPU) The feature variants can be assigned simultaneously to a GeoCENTREX subscriber and used simultaneously. Common Call Pick Up Common Call Pick Up gives access to the features Group Call Pick Up and Direct Call Pick Up via the same feature code. The features are called according to the digits dialed: Feature code for CCPU Group Call Pick Up (GCPU) Feature code for CCPU + GeoCENTREX internal number for call pickup Direct Call Pick Up (DCPU) Group Call Pick Up For group call pickup, call pickup groups are created in the local GeoCENTREX group. GeoCENTREX subscribers with authorization for GCPU can answer calls intended for other subscribers in the call pickup group. More than one call pickup group can be formed in a local GeoCentrex group, but a subscriber line can only belong to one call pickup group. The number of call pickup groups per GeoCentrex group is not limited. The maximum number of call pickup groups per EWSD network node is 65535. 4095 call pickup groups can be formed per GeoCentrex group. The number of subscriber lines per CPU group is not limited. For one call pickup group, up to eight calls can be queued simultaneously for call pickup. A call that has already been refused for call pickup (e.g. due to other subscriber restrictions) can be picked up by another subscriber in the call pickup group. To pick up a call within the call pickup group, the subscriber dials a feature code (Fig. 2.1). If there are several unanswered calls to GeoCENTREX subscriber lines in the call pickup group at the same time, the subscriber automatically picks up the call which has been waiting longest.

Direct Call Pick Up This feature variant permits call pickup in the local GeoCENTREX group. GeoCENTREX subscribers with authorization for DCPU can divert calls intended for other subscribers in the GeoCENTREX group. To pick up a call, the subscriber dials a feature code and the GeoCENTREX number of the called line. When the EWSD receives the feature code for DCPU, it first sends a dial tone again to the GeoCENTREX subscriber who initiated call pickup (Fig. 2.2). This subscriber then dials the extension number of the line from which the call is to be picked up. EWSD then sets up the connection between the subscriber initiating direct call pickup and the calling subscriber. 1. Call to subscriber 4712 Network node GeoCENTREX group

Customer Premises Equipment Call Pick Up This feature variant permits call pickup in the local GeoCENTREX group. GeoCENTREX subscribers with the authorization for CPECPU can pick up calls addressed to customer premises equipment (e.g. a pager) in the GeoCENTREX group. To pick up calls the subscriber dials a feature code (Fig. 2.3). 1. Call to Pager 4712 Network node Directory number 4712 GeoCENTREX group
