Pee Wee Sports: Tee Ball
for kids ages 3-6, with disabilities Marion Diehl Adaptive Field, 2229 Tyvola Road March 16-May 4 (Saturdays) NO practice March 30th due to CMS Spring Break 9:00 am-9:45 am $35.00 Abigail.Bergman@MecklenburgCountyNC.gov Spend an energizing morning with your child learning the basic skills needed to play tee ball! During the 7 sessions, children will have fun with their friends and work with their parents to develop skills as well as have fun with basic social games and activities! This is a great opportunity for parents to interact with their children in a fun environment and to learn techniques for teaching their children sports. Adult participation is required.

Wilderness Bunch
for teens & young adults with disabilities, ages 16-35 Drop off & Pick up at Marion Diehl Rec Center 2219 Tyvola Road Camping and day trips from McDowell Nature Preserve Friday-Sunday, March 8th-10th 4:00 pm (Friday) - 4:00 pm (Sunday) $150.00 for the weekend Karen.Howard@MecklenburgCountyNC.gov Abigail.Bergman@MecklenburgCountyNC.gov Wilderness Bunch is designed to teach basic skills needed for tent camping and participating in outdoor recreation. Day trips include hiking, fishing nature scavenger hunts and nature lessons. Participants should be independent in self care and be able to hike approximately 1 mile. Participants will need to bring: toiletries, towel, change of clothes, bathing suit, a sleeping bag, and a flash light.

Spill Your Beans provides the opportunity for young women to talk about and gain support for issues theyre facing in their lives, such as health & safety, independent living, relationships, friendships, and self-esteem (participants will have the opportunity to choose the topics to learn about). Each month we will host a guest speaker or lead a discussion about issues that are important to you.

Fuel for Life

Fuel for Life provides the opportunity for young men to talk about and gain support for issues theyre facing in their lives. Each month we will host guest speakers and discuss different topics, such as employment and job skills, relationships, life goals and values, and other topics that are important to you.

Band of Brothers

Summit Parent/Caregiver Group


Amelies Bakery and Caf (in NoDa), 2424 N. This FREE informal group gives participants the opportunity to meet and talk with other parents and caregivers who are experiencing the challenges of parenting a child, teen or young adult with a disability.

The spotlight is calling you. In the TR Performing Arts Club, participants will increase their awareness and involvement in various acting and performance skills. No prior skills are required. The Gifted Gardeners will be very active: filling our raised tables with vegetables, flowers and herbs; caring for permanent plantings at the Marion Diehl Center; and crafting items using plant materials. Please note that some classes may take place at the Sensory Garden in Nevin Park, where we will be outdoors and possibly negotiating uneven terrain.

Dance & Fitness
