Description of Business
Devamal Corporation limited located in Church Road Bog Walk St.Catherine was started on December1, 2009. The reason for this location is because of the exposure to the public which is perfect for advertising the product. The owner Devon Semoy started this business as a meat mart which retails chicken only. He buys the raw meat from dark garden chicken industry located at white marl in Spanish Town St.Catherine. The chicken then is then sold to people living in the surrounding area and popular hotels in Ocho Rios and Montego Bay Jamaica. This business employ eight people whom each play a part in the distribution of the product and buying of the raw material for resale. Monetary funds gained for starting the business was obtained from a loan at the National Commercial Bank at the head office located at 32 Trafalgar Road , Kingston10 Jamaica.

Statement About the Performance of the Business


For the period under review it can be seen that Devamal Corporation Limited performed at a loss due to circumstances that the business was just being introduce to the market competition. The business obtained a gross loss of $394,000. Operating expenses were very high due to the business just getting started and no form of conservation limitation was being taken place.

Recommendation / Suggestion
Devamal Corporation Limited can improve financially if the business use a better pricing strategy and start with the use of advertisement. Devamal Corporation Limited can be improved if the business cuts down on money which is spent on wages and use methods of conservation for electricity. The business can also try to negotiate with the place of purchase of goods for a cheaper price of the product or locate a different source of goods. Implementation of machinery to cut down on wages and use of solar panels to generate current to operate the business.

Conclusion
Devamal Corporation Limited has been performing at a loss owing to separate circumstances. The businesses opened during a recessional period were persons are not spending as much as before. Another reason was the owners will to provide employment for persons in the community and the business ended up over employing too many persons. Theft also played an integrated part as not much emphasis was played on security for the establishment.

Aims
To provide employment for people who are living in the area. To boost sales for the Jamaican chicken market. Produce the best quality chicken for the Jamaican chicken market.
