Hi, Gratitude, Thankfulness, appreciation...such wonderful words! Have you ever stopped to say thank you and the person didn't expect it? Have you ever appreciated what your parents do for you? Every day there is something or someone to put a smile on your face and everyday you have a lot to thank for! I am sure you have heard that All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. Study is food for mind, and games are food for body; neither should we be starved or overfed. We can maintain good health by playing games regularly. They keep us active, alert, disciplined, vibrant and bold. Games develop team spirit, sportsmanship and equanimity. Keeping this in mind the theme for the next issue is Sports and Games! Keeping with its tradition of a quarterly meet, BuzzTimes celebrated its 2nd Correspondent Meet on 19th Jan at S2M Gurgaon. The centre was choc-a-bloc with young correspondents bursting with excitement and energy!! Read on ahead for details and pictures. Cheers, Anita Jaswal

Gratitude - To My Mother
You have given me gladness. Your small act of kindness has made my heart feel light. I just wanted to write this note, in gratitude to you. Thanks for smiling into my eyes, when you saw the frown on my face. Thanks for lending me a hand, when you noticed I was so busy. Thanks for holding me, when you saw the tear fall from my eye. You lifted my spirits with your humour, when you heard me sigh. Thanks...one million thanks to you, for what you've done. I know - A simple act of kindness, doesn't take long. I vow to show kindness, to everyone I meet. I offer you my heartfelt thanks, for the kindness you've taught me.

Thank you God, For Another Day

As I awoke this morning and placed my feet upon the floor I prayed Thank you God, I get to enjoy another day". As I recall the precious memories of family and friends I prayed "Thank you God", for they are all so dear. When I walked into school and begin, I prayed "Thank you God" for good health and the ability to provide for my family. I live in INDIA, the land of the free and home of the brave, Thank you God, please keep our country strong and free. But most of all Thank you God for sending Jesus to die for us.

Gratitude means being THANKFUL!

I am always thankful to my parents for doing all the things that they do for me. I am also thankful to my teachers and friends. I feel the person who has gratitude is a very kind person. Sometimes I want more than what I have and then my parents help me understand that I should be happy with what I have and also should be grateful to God for all the good things and happiness he has given me, that is why every night before I sleep I thank God for the beautiful life and loving Tanisha Singh parents and grandparents he has given me. 10 yeras

The Lost Friendship Band

After a long exhausting last day at school, I was returning home on foot. I had an eerie feeling that something bad was going to happen to me. In the past, I had recorded experiencing bad omens on the last days (before vacations) of my school. I thought that I would encounter an annoying stranger who would get into an argument with me. Worse still, I thought that a humongous tree would crash onto my head splitting me to pieces! I was certain about a peculiar situation. I suddenly experienced a hard tap on my head but luckily it wasnt a tree like I had imagined. It was just a simple, small bracelet. I looked up to see where it came from but only saw columns of empty balconies of my apartment complex. The bracelet had a lot of beads attached to it. There were three exceptional beads which were heart shaped and it had best friends written on it. I didnt notice the band more at that particular time. Pocketing the bracelet, I hurried along home. Within minutes, I was home safe, without any untowardly incident. After enjoying the first hour of the holidays, I examined the band. I noticed it carefully and saw that the band was full of bright multi coloured beads. The band was a friendship band. It had best friends written in bold letters. Surely, it must have belonged to a child and must have been presented to him or her by a best friend on friendship day which had just passed. I knew that the band must be of sentimental value to its owner. I was determined to find the rightful owner but didnt know how. Meanwhile, I began to make the most of my holidays, relaxing at home and studying whenever I wished to. The bracelet had become a distant memory. The holidays unfortunately, came to an end and I had to again catch the routine of school. On the first day my despondency showed on my face. I was walking to school when I found a child asking around for a friendship band. I knew then that I had found the owner of the bracelet. I then showed the boy the bracelet to the boy. Guess what? The band belonged to him! I handed over the bracelet to him and asked him why he had thrown it away. He replied that he had had a fight with his best friend. He continued and said that he had realized his mistake and now they are best friends again forever!! He thanked me profusely and expressed deep gratitude. I felt content and happy on having returned the boys precious friendship band.

Mirror - Mirror on the Wall Whos the hardest working lady of all?
In todays society, a mother is undoubtedly the hardest working lady of all. This woman is a businessperson, mother and a housewife. Without her, a house cannot function. Imagine a life without our mothers. Who would teach us moral values? Who would show us a path to lead a life as a good citizen? When we are born, mothers teach us about the almighty. Mothers are always ready to tell us what is right and what is wrong? Mothers often scold us and we dot like that one bit. However, when we grow up we appreciate their wisdom. Children are the future of our country. If mothers do not teach their children peace and good manners then how can we become good citizens? Think of those nights when our mothers sat beside us humming lullabies, putting us to sleep and staying up all night if we had fever. Mothers are not merely humans; they are super beings and are direct messengers of God. They undergo huge amount of stress from family and work. Those mothers who dont work are running around in the house, tidying the mess their children and husbands make. We should respect our mothers and appreciate what they do, not only because of what they do for us but also for the society. Let us show them some gratitude. We can help them by doing little chores at home. Of course we can never repay the love and work they have shown and done for us. We should be ready to serve and help them, no matter what. The modern mother; a multi-tasker is the hardest working lady of all and also one of the most important in the society.

Gratitude
Gratitude is the feeling we get when someone does something nice for us. It means thankfulness towards anything. Gratitude is essential in our lives, if we do not show gratitude and humility how can anybody do anything for us? It takes just a thank you to someone to brighten up their day. A.A Milne wrote in his book Winnie the Pooh, Piglet noticed that even though he had a Very Small Heart, it could hold a rather large amount of Gratitude!

Teachers Are Special

There can be no school without teachers. Teachers are the most integral part of all our lives. In my school, not only do they teach us subjects like Math or English, but they also make a huge difference to our lives. Teachers impart knowledge and values to us students. They mould a childs personality. They take us in schools when we are lumps of coal, and they transform us into sparkling diamonds. They take care of us as though we are their own children. They know the bells and whistles of education, and they ensure that we all know how to ring those bells and blow those whistles. They nurture us so lovingly and patiently. Of course, they are strict, but it is only when we have asked for it! I am sure, when we all look back at the punishments and pep talks they gave us, we will thank them for pointing out our flaws and helping us do away with them. However, while I have always felt teaching is one of the most important professions, I do not think it receives the recognition it deserves. The profession is poorly remunerated, which is certainly unfair. Teachers have very difficult lives, and we hardly give a thought to the difficulties they face personally. If any of us could even be half of what our teachers are like, that would be a great achievement. It has been said that in the future, teachers will be replaced with robots. I sincerely hope that does not happen, for I know my teachers are the best, and they are irreplaceable. Our teachers inspire us all, and it is up to us to do our part and make them proud, always.

Importance of Gratitude
The word gratitude means being thankful. Someday or the other you have be thankful to someone. Let me explain my point of view. Feeling gratitude and expressing it helps you make a special place in other peoples heart and mind. It is also important to feel gratitude when someone has done something for you and if you fail to do that he or she will feel bad. It even happens with me when I do something good and the other person does not express gratitude. It is equally important to not get proud when someone is thankful to you. One should be humble while expressing or receiving gratitude. Thats why I say life should be balanced. Mukund Gupta,

My Cocoon
Family is the cosy environment of love and affection where one blossoms and learns values. I am thankful to God for giving me such lovely, caring and devoted parents, who are also so Kind, friendly and adorable. They are the best friends of mine as they give me so much of knowledge, care and special gifts. They do get angry and scold me at times, but I never feel sad about it as I learn some more moral values from each mistake. My father and mother always give gifts that I want and they make all my wishes come true. My desire is that one day I should be able to fulfil all their dreams and wishes. I strongly believe that my Parents are best Friends that I can ever have. To me Family means Father And Mother I Love You!

Gratitude Unlocks The Fullness Of Life.

Gratitude turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity. It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend. Gratitude, as it is truly said by some people is an emotion that unlocks the true worth of anyone or anything whomsoever it may be. It completes life by adding happiness to every moment. For gratitude, in fact, is a feeling with enough potential to change the world and make it a better surrounding. Gratitude is an emotion that brings harmony into anything by just touch; its like the golden touch of Midas. Earning gratitude in life brings such a tremendous amount of joy and ecstasy to life that even misery turns into delight. Such is the power of gratitude. To truly achieve this emotion we must respect anothers decision, we must judge his actions rightly, and thank others on whatever they may do for us. To bring joy in life we must change our attitude and make it gratitude.

Being Grateful For What We Have

Once there were two girls Riya and Rosie. They were the best of friends in the school. They both lived in the same apartment and every evening they would go down to play together just how best friends do. One day Rosies father bought her a new I-PAD which she down to play but when she when Riya saw the I-PAD she felt like having it to! So when she went home she told her mom about the I-PAD. She said a clear NO! Rosie again came down the next day she had again got something really special this time she didnt get an I-PAD she got a PSP. Riya again went home and told her mom about the PSP. Her mom told her that child dont get carried away by all this stuff let Rosie buy all of this stuff you should be grateful to God and thank Him that we can eat our daily bread there are some many children who are homeless and dont get there daily bread these children sleep on the road. Riya understood her mom and those inspirational words gave her the power to achieve high goals in her life!

Thankful To God
Gratitude is a very heart touching word. Gratitude to me means the quality of being thankful to somebody. Everybody can feel gratitude in them, they can be thankful to God, their parents or even to their dog... there are thousands to whom you can be thankful to. I am thankful to God for giving me such great parents and especially to my mother as she gave birth to me. I am really thankful to God for my eyes so that I can see the worlds beauty, and also for my ears to hear the voices which are soft or loud and at last my mouth so I can speak and communicate to others easily!! I love you GOD!

Take On A Gratitude Attitude!

Do you every day, thank God for this wonderful life and pay Him gratitude for our healthy and comfortable entity? Well, I do. The literal meaning of gratitude is to possess the feeling or quality of being thankful or grateful to someone or something. In this case, it our duty to feel indebted to Him. Gratitude is a gesture that we should portray for every small favour or work done for us. It may be the most trivial good will, but we need to be appreciative it just as well. Gratitude is the basic courtesy that we should not forget or neglect. Few days ago an incident happened which has filled my heart with gratitude. There was a very important event for which I had to register by giving the required amount to my teacher as it was the last date to submit the money. Unfortunately I had forgotten to bring it to school. I was completely dejected and lost all hopes when a concerned teacher helped me and gave the amount so that I would not miss that opportunity. As a result of her caring gesture, I could attend that event. I am grateful to her. A popular and wise saying As you sow, So you reap. proclaims that depending on our actions, we will get a good outcome in return. Exhibiting gratitude widens our outlook towards life which in turn uplifts our standard in life. As our perspective broadens, we experience appraisal in every problem or dilemma we face, and take every hindrance positively. Hence, gratitude is the basic gesture we should depict to Sukriti Lakhtakia maintain a more accessible and beneficial life.

Gratitude
Gratitude means thankfulness. I am so grateful to all the people who help me in my life. Thank you all for your support and making my life beautiful. I think we should be most thankful to God for giving us life, for parents and such a beautiful world to live in. He is the one who gives us food and Nature who protects us in every way possible. We should also thank our parents, for making life beautiful and adding so much value to my world. Animals should also be thanked as they give us food such as milk, butter and cheese and give us warm woollen clothes. Plants should be thanked too for giving us vegetables, fruits, oxygen and shelter. The very basic necessity of our life is fulfilled by animals and plants selflessly and what we do to them? Kill them and misuse our resources. Lets all understand the strong power of gratitude and make happy lives for all.

A Thankful Memory
There are so many incidents where everybody feels to be grateful to somebody or the other. I have an experience to share with you all. This was a day before my birthday. My mother told to me that this time we would not celebrate my birthday party like every year but in return she would buy me a beautiful gift of my choice. Though disappointed, I agreed. Next day on my birthday evening, all my friends came home all had been invited secretly by my mother! I was so happy and excited to have a surprise birthday party. To add to my joy my grandparents were also there on this special occasion. I got all the things I wanted including my favourite Barbie dolls. After the party got over my few close friends stayed on and we danced and played with all my favourite games which made me feel very happy and special. It was fun to have a complete surprise birthday party. I am very thankful to my parents for organizing everything for my birthday and making this day a beautiful memory that I will cherish for a very long time.

More Than Just A Class

We all have brooded over passed events, pondered over the present, and planned for the future. Apart from this, we all have imagined and placed ourselves in different situations, ones that may be beautiful and alluring, and also ones which can be devastating I often get carried away by my imagination, and think up the places I could be in, the people I would meet and what I would do. Many a times, I even imagine myself living the life of someone else, but as I found out recently, I dont need to place myself in someone elses shoes to be happy, grateful and satisfied. I must say that I owe the recent Telugu (a new language to me) classes that I started attending, where I am taught by our watchmans daughter, a lot for helping me understand this. Each class is originally supposed to last for just half an hour, but because of our shared passion of talking, it usually lasts for around an hour. Classes after class, we both have become better friends and I am glad that I started taking these classes. Each class is more than just time for me to improve my lingual skills-I also learn more about valuing my life, and everything that my family has done to give it to me. These classes and the conversations with my teacher have set me thinking about many things, and have helped me learn about things that I probably couldnt learn about at school or anywhere else. Meeting someone so happy and content with whatever they have is one of my most soul-enriching experiences yet. To some, these classes would simply mean a half an hour of learning Telugu, but to me, they are much more than that We tend to forget that happiness doesn't come as a result of getting something we don't have, but rather of recognizing and appreciating what we do have. -Frederick Keonig

Our Worst Enemy

Building and growing right in your mind Blames you for wrong doing, Meanwhile skulks behind What a sneak! Your worst enemy Earns punishments for you, And for you makes the day blue... And you, by your enemy, get strongly influenced And burst out with the enemy's feelings Your enemy makes you do horrible things. As evil as the devil As fierce as fire Leave you guilty. Oh it does. It is such a tire. Now can you guess? This unpleasant enemy of yours who makes a terrible mess. It is nothing but an emotion which causes danger, It is nothing but loathed ANGER.

The Olympic Ideals No Longer Drive The Games

When Ben Johnson ran 100 m in 9.79 seconds in 1988 Olympics, he not only shattered a world record, he shattered the Olympic ideals. Not only him but 5 others out of the 8 finalists who subsequently tested positive for taking performance enhancing drugs. The Olympic symbol better known as the Olympic rings consists of five inter-winded rings which represents the unity among the five continents. The Olympic ideals can be better expressed through the Olympic creed, which is "the most important thing in the Olympics is not to win but to take part. The most essential thing is not to have conquered but to have fought well. In today's life ideals such as sportsmanship and fair-play are just that of ideals. In reality success is measured in gold, silver and bronze. The pressure from coaches, sponsors and other sportsmen is so much that these players tend to do anything for these medals. In this years Olympics six badminton players were disqualified for deliberately losing matches for better fix ups later in the games. It is also hilarious to know that in 1904 St. Louis Olympics Fred Lorz drove eleven miles in a car before he completed a marathon. If this goes on, times are not far when we will be seeing Olympics of modified super-humans. It may sound pessimistic but there is not much hope for sportsmanship unless sever steps are taken. Countries and sponsors should have zero tolerance for such disgraceful acts. People found violating such rules and regulations should be punished harshly. Only then can the Olympic Games be better. It is sad but Olympic ideals no longer drive the games.

Create Compost From Your Kitchen Waste Hey friends! Do you know that you can convert your kitchen waste into compost or khaad as it is called in Hindi easily and very interestingly .This beautiful process helps us to connect with nature and also helps to replenish the top soil .My mom introduced me to this concept when I was 6 and it has been a fascinating journey so far . Things that we consider as waste can be recycled into organic matter called compost. All this can be done in your backyards or balconies with the help of terracotta containers provided by an organization called DAILY DUMP. Since terracotta absorbs the leechate and is also porous, one does not encounter any foul odour that we usually associate with garbage. We start by segregating our waste into organic and non-organic. Organic waste includes vegetable and fruit peels, tea and coffee grounds, stale bread and leftover food etc. All these go in the composter with some natural enzymes and essential microbes which the DAILY DUMP provides in the kit. Then you mix up the pile. You can see the natural process of biodegradation happen -watch nature take over. Finally you can see the fruits of your patience - wonderful sweet smelling compost all ready to be used for your plants as nutrient rich manure! So, let us make a beginning to create wealth out of waste and make some GREEN GOLD. Tanmay gave a practical demo to a group of children and parents at Stones2Milestones,Gurgaon.

Prayer on Gratitude
I did not even know I was wounded till I received healing I did not even know How healing is available Till I looked around Till I looked around and Went forth to heal the 'wounded' From my 'wholeness' And I was aghast To see my tattered soul The same, the same, the same! From this sameness Was born a humble insight To perceive so much that I receive I bow today in gratitude For the healers Who gave themselves to me To teach, share, listen Smile, scold, hold Do all it takes to love And bring me back home To the beauty of me To the place of LOVE These lovely words have been composed by Jagruti Gala, Lead - Content Development and Training. BuzzTimes is the sole initiative of Stones2Milestones

Stones2Milestones offers research based programs for children to identify and nurture their inherent potential. We constantly encourage children to question things they read, see and hear and give them opportunities to speak out without being judged and let their feelings and opinions be heard. Our organisation is the brainchild of the alumni from IIM & Harvard. We currently have centres in Gurgaon, Bengaluru and Vadodara
