Nicholas Wilk Professor Suzanne Ingram English 1102 2/23/13 Midterm ~ Letter To a Friend Dear Harry, This semester,

I have a class called English 1102 and the theme for this course is health. What is it like to be healthy? has aroused many different perspectives that the subject can focus on. As you and I both know, our faith was enhanced by our God-given experience at Ionian Village; this refers to our spiritual health. Others include physical health, mental health, and many more. It is pretty interesting how we even learn about ourselves during this topic. You and I both had the chance to know each other threw the events and miracles that we experienced together. This class that I take now has been a guide to help to record and discover who I am from the live Ive lived.

Threw writing a What Is It Like To Be You? essay, I have learned that many of the moments, tests, and choices that I have experienced and made have brought me to where I am today. Examples include how I became a stronger person, how I express myself through different forms of literature, and how I am given tests by God to make the right decisions. I also write about how I was given great interest in my major of architecture from a time when I was only five years old, in awe of the buildings in Sacramento, CA. I added one part of my lyrics called Pray To Revive,

which excited my professor. That has been one of the many forms of how I express situations in my life; its funny how my faith in Jesus has been incorporated in most of them. Its almost like He sends messages through me. In this case, even though I didnt explain these things within the essay, it helped me to touch upon them in my own life. And of course, I could not ever forget the fact about writing about our motherland, Greece. The passions of the culture flows threw me, in ways I cant even describe. I should have mentioned in my essay that even though I am not fluent in Greek, I somehow have the ability to tag along to what the Greek song is saying from its tone and emotion. I learn through Greek music about what words mean and can relate to its power. The motion through Hellenic dancing carries the stories of my ancestry and has provided me the opportunity to show the world who I am. I am very passionate about my culture because it has been a blessing in my life and yours too, Haralambos.

As for my own writing, I have realized that there are structural bases that I need to work on. I realized that when I was describing myself, I tried scattered different topics without going too overboard on one specific subject. I have told you many things that have happened in my life and witnessed the summer of my life at I.V.; this means that you realize that many things have happened to describe why I am myself. I probably should touch on a few of the best subjects by adding dialogue from something that has happened. This could include our bro talk about how deaths in our own families haunt us and give us stronger faith. This also relates to a song I wrote about the passing of my grandfather called Translucent. I should not

be as vague to describe a story within my essays. Even pictures help show the reader what the author sees, which would be an interesting idea for me to scan my architectural sketches. Essays long forms of expression through explanation and illustration. For the reader to understand my stories, I need to add more information. Also, it is easier for me to discuss my religion since being in Ms. Ingrams class. My faith is every part of who I am and how I live. I could not be able to write secularly about myself, it isnt rational.

One of the following assignments that we have to do in class is to research a topic that you find interesting, regarding health. As I explained to Ms. Ingram, I have written many forms of literature about my spirituality throughout my life. For this assignment, I felt that it was intriguing to discuss an interest of physical health. We are athletic people love to tone our bodies. In this case, I wanted to learn more about the correct nutrition and consumption needed for the best toning for the physique. We are given bodies to take care of them, which is why I found this to be an interesting project. Thus far, I understand the basics, such as working out at the gym, allows for more consumption. As good as more food to eat sounds, it doesnt mean to add trans fats into ones diet. Eating should be done in moderation, meaning an unhealthy can be enjoyed on occasion because it wont damage the progress to tone your body. For beverages, water is best for cleansing the bodys digestive system and hydrates for energy. There is still more to come on this progress.

The progress for the research has been found simpler by our visit to the library. I understand that I need to look into the books contents to pinpoint where to begin the research. I am also learning about how the online search engine like EbscoHost has great sources to help discover topics that I have been trying to find. I have also learned that the Atkins Library has a book finder to help locate the book within the building. It has been a simple process finding sources but it will be a little more rigorous once recording information needed from the sources. This class has been a great experience and it will continue to have more lessons learned. I will discuss this with you later. I hope you are having a great semester, my friend!

Sincerely, Niko
