The Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) from Nova Southeastern University is a challenging but flexible program that is geared to meet the needs of busy working professionals in Asia, as it accommodates their need to be mobile. In this blended delivery format, the program requires students to be on-site for a total of 10 days during the 3 on-site sessions which are spread over 3 terms. Each on-site session, 3 or 4 days in length, is scheduled on weekends, while the rest of the program is online..............The best of both worlds.

DOCTORAL DEGREE PROGRAM


Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) The Ed.D. Program offers students an individualized approach with flexible curriculum choices and various instructional delivery options. Each student gains expertise in his or her chosen concentration and supplements that study area with an additional concentration, a minor in another area, or with electives from multiple disciplines. All students will be required to earn a minimum of 69 credits as outlined in the program components; however, students may choose to select multiple concentrations or electives of interest to complement their degrees. Students may elect to take their core seminars online or at one of our on-site program locations. All concentration and elective courses are delivered completely online. Core Seminars [18 credits] All students are required to successfully complete the three core seminars. These foundation seminars are designed to enhance competence in these areas, which are prominent in any chosen discipline. Core seminars include Leadership Methods of Inquiry Trends and Issues Research Elective [3 credits] Each student is required to elect one supplemental research course in addition to the research seminar. Throughout the research elective, students gain specific knowledge in the applied research method selected for their dissertations. Research electives include Advanced Program Evaluation Advanced Statistical Methods Measurement, Testing, and Assessment Mixed Methods Program Evaluation Psycho-Educational Assessment Qualitative Research Research Design and Methods Single Subject Research Statistical Methods Survey Research ARC 9300 Advanced Research and Leadership Development Focuses on research design, implementation, and analysis and its place in leading educational change. As an integral component of this course, students are strongly encouraged to attend the Abraham S. Fischler School of Education (FSE) Summer Conference. Attendance at the conference facilitates a one-week face-to-face component with both national and international research leaders and members of the students' dissertation committees. Prerequisite: EDD 9200. For additional information, please visit the Summer Conference Web site at http://schoolofed.nova.edu/summer. Concentrations [18-24 credits] The concentration component of the Doctor of Education allows students to maximize their knowledge and skill set in their current and/or emerging fields. Concentrations require a minimum of 18 credits in the area of study but may require up to 24 credits. All Concentration courses are delivered online only. Concentrations include Educational Leadership Health Care Education Higher Education Leadership Human Services Administration Instructional Leadership Instructional Technology and Distance Education Nursing Education Organizational Leadership Reading Education Special Education Speech-Language Pathology Electives/Minors [9-24 credits] Through the electives component, students can individualize their doctoral degrees. Depending on the number of credits required in their main concentration, students must complete the minimum 69-credit requirement using electives. These electives may also be applied toward a second concentration [18-24 credits] or a minor [15 credits]. All Elective courses are delivered online only. Minors include Adult Education Applied Behavioral Analysis Autism Brain-Based Leadership Charter School Education/Leadership Community College Leadership Conflict Resolution Curriculum Development Early Childhood Gerontology Human Resources Development School Business Leadership Urban Education Applied Dissertation [12 credits] The applied dissertation is a detailed, accurate, and cohesive account of a scholarly investigation designed to answer a research question directed toward the improvement of practice in education and human services. Research is distinguished by a theory-to-practice model encompassing a diversity of disciplines. Each student is assigned a faculty committee to facilitate and supervise the process.
