It was not long before I realized his love for Mechanical Engineering through his eager participation in class discussions. He has shown lot of interest in taking part in seminars and other class activities that require quite sound knowledge in the subjects. I can assure you that he can surprise you by his hard work and dedication to studies and other day to day activities. He is also a very punctual and intelligent person. The fact that he is so well acquainted with the recent developments across the world is due to his interest in reading technical articles in the internet and magazines. In this way he utilizes the facilities provided by the college in a very productive and apt manner. In the classroom, he has always been enthusiastic, attentive and helpful to his peers. He would actively participate in group discussions, and explain to his peers, the topics that they did not understand. From my experience in teaching him, I see that he has an analytical mind, which I deduce from the way he puts forward his views in the classroom discussions, his responses to questions in tests and his approach to his projects. His responses would always be backed by good reasoning. He never reproduces answers in the tests from learning materials; instead, he goes a step further and gives his own views regarding the problem statements and solves them methodically. The same goes with his approach to his projects. He has almost always been successful in working his way around problems, which was evident in his final year project on designing of a Coconut Pulp Extractor. Apart from academics, he also has an impressive record in co- culliar activities. He is a a good cricket player. Although he has never been very good in sports, he never fails to participate in sporting events and give his best no matter what situation he in. It pleases me that he has been able to strike a good balance between academics and extracurricular activities. As a person, Soumya Chatterjee is a well-mannered, friendly, considerate and a conscientious person, with enormous capabilities. He is also an honest young man, who accepts his mistakes with entirety. To put it in a nut shell, I find Soumya Chatterjee a well-balanced, hardworking and a capable person.
