Pre-Ap and AP Course Offerings for Original Credit Summer 2013

ELIGIBILITY: Pre-AP and AP courses offered during the summer will be open to incoming 9th through 12th grade students. Students must meet all necessary prerequisite requirements for enrollment in a course and may only enroll in a single 1.0 credit or two .5 credit courses during the summer program. EXPECTATIONS: These courses are designed to prepare students for the next level of study in a discipline and for successful performance on an Advanced Placement Exam. Courses are academically challenging and will require study and preparation time outside of class. Students are advised to limit other summer obligations during the eight-week period they will be attending class. ATTENDANCE: Absences during the sessions may cause serious difficulty in successful completion of the course. Therefore, perfect attendance is required. Students with absences that result in poor performance may be withdrawn from the course subject to the guidelines described below. TRANSPORTATION: Transportation is not provided for pre-AP and AP courses offered during the summer. WITHDRAWAL DEADLINE: The last day to withdraw from the course without impact on the high school transcript/GPA will be June 28. Transcripts for students withdrawing after June 28 will reflect a course grade of 50 at the time of withdrawal. No refunds will be given for withdrawal from the course. PAYMENT: Payment may be made online through Family Access. Cash payments only may be made at the FBISD Business & Finance Office March 4 - March 28, 2013 between 8:30am 4:00pm. (FBISD is closed for Spring Break on March 11-15).

All 1.0 courses are 26 days in duration and .5 courses are 13 days in duration. Attendance for the complete term is required for course credit. END OF COURSE: Incoming 9th- 11th grade students enrolling in courses with an EOC component will be required to take the assessment at the next available administration (subject to any legislative changes in state assessment requirements).

COST: 1.0 Courses = $650 .5 Courses = $400 Cost includes textbook, instructional resource materials, and laboratory related resources for science courses.

Registration for all courses is on a first come first served basis and will depend on the availability of qualified teachers. Registration information may be requested from the school counselor, or located online. Guidelines for grades, dress code, and discipline are included in the High School Summer School Brochure.
