Sarabjit kaur Mrs. Sheetz Intro to lit/comp 1 March 2013 LBJ and IHD Martin Luther King Jr. believed in and worked towards equality and justice for everyone and the abolition of segregation. He also believed that people should not be judged by their color but by their character. In his letter from Birmingham jail and I have a dream speech, he demonstrates his ability to effectively portray his thoughts in order to inspire the people of the United states of America, whites and blacks. He lights hope to millions of Negro slaves, who experienced unfair treatment their whole lives and also points out the promises that have been broken, including the Emancipation proclamation. One point Dr.King described concerning civil rights for the citizens of the U.S. and permanent end to the racial separation was that the promises made to all Americans must not be broken. He brought up the fact of the Emancipation proclamation, declaring that all slaves in states still at war with the Union were free. He also delivered the point of negotiations

containing some progress but the segregation signs came up again. He made clear to the clergymen about the unsolved bombings of Negro homes and churches in the U.S. He describes the Negro life unhappily disabled by the handcuffs of separation and the series of discrimination. He wants to draw the attention of the people of the U.S. to the point that the country cannot cultivate without just laws.

There are other points that Martin Luther King Jr. clarifies upon his argument regarding equal opportunities and an end to segregation. An important point he brings out that the urgency with which one change desired to be made. Dr.King argued that the depression of the Negros would not pass without conversion. He says that the time to make lawfulness amends is absoluteness for each one of us are Gods children. He also shared his personnel experience (10); he says that it is easy to say wait when you have never yourself experienced segregation darts. He uses a comprehensive account of experiences that he and his people have endured in order to show the frustration, he and his people are tired of waiting. Last, but not the least of his philosophical bent was his aspect that equality for each individual and moreover, an end to segregation must be cultivated or drawn with non aggressiveness. He consumed that the Negro community must not advance to misdoubt of white people as all of us are sewn up in the same string of hope, destiny and certainty (442). King attaches weight to all the racial problems will be burned up soon, also dreams that the false impressions about the blacks would no longer be extended in time, and to have a license to do as ones will and to experience happiness each day of their lives. Today we remember him as the hero of the civil rights movement, the man who laid down his dream for a more equal America 50 years ago. Today people of all races honor his legacy and the principles he inspired. The achievements of the past pioneers affected Dr.King in different aspects of his political and also social activism, for so successfully he fought for his dream of peace and equality in the U.S. Imagine if Martin Luther king Jr. didnt fight for equality, how would the life of an American would be without him? At the present, does Kings dream of equality and an end to segregation become into a reality?
