To be able to consider how successfully your main and ancillary texts work together

For this question, I shall answer how successful my main and ancillary texts synergise together so that my Music album promotes my music effectively by showing intertextual properties which complement each other and therefore exude synergetic quality.
Front Cover For my front cover, I set out to achieve an image/graphic which would appeal to teenagers, all the way up to 30 year olds. To do this, I would have to make the title a light colour to convey happiness. To comply with the convention of synergy, I featured Mr Euro Love and the luminescent band name Colin and Matt Saturday Show on the magazine. This was done so that the stylisation of the digipack is all similar and accomplishes the Euro-Pop theme. The band title on the front cover is the same colour and font style as the masthead on the magazine. This again is another example of being in line with the music convention of synergy. The composition of Alex is very similar to the composition on the CD front cover of Tinie Tempahs Discovery. I created my digipack with the purpose intention of following some aspects of this design because I believe it is a memorable image due to the way the artist peers into the eyes of the viewer and the luminescence of the colours brings the image to life. The fuzzy background was made to represent the black and white pixilation of an un-tuned television set. This was to convey a sense of Euro Love being broadcasted via television, which is an intertextual reference to the Eurovision song contest. It also evokes a sense that these waves are being emitted by a radio station. The fact that Colin and Matt have their own show (hence their name) is emphasized by this and is a direct link to their show.

Back Cover Just like the front cover, the back cover follows the same style by having a heart placed in the middle of the picture. The waves on the edge on the heart are in relation with inside 1 picture because the rectangle has the same ripple effect and maintains a pink colour. The rippling of the heart not only symbolises the beating of a real heart, it also represents the audio jumps, drops and tempo of music in songs.

Inside 1 The composition of these separate images were edited so that they all become one image but in a pattern which complements the rule of thirds. The placement of the Mr Euro Loves is set to make out as though the majority of them are looking into the centre. All of these faces have the main European flags on them which complement the theme of Euro Love and the communion of both Europe and love fuses into one. In the middle, there is one Mr Euro Love which stands out from the rest due to the bigger scale and pink neon rectangle which surrounds him. This presents him as though he is inside a television and brings to mind that Euro Love is so good that it should be on Television. This Television effect is further emphasized by the breaks in-between the lines of the outside of the rectangle which appear to be sound waves. This also relates to the event known as the Eurovision song contest which allows countries to compete against each other by electing a singer of their choice to represent their country in a singing battle to win the most votes. The cheesy faces which Mr Euro Love is expressing is also a convention known to be used by Euro-pop genre and is especially relatable to Eurovision because the singers/bands typically wear quirky costumes and a variety of bright colour.

Inside 2 The Isnt in Europe is an intertextual reference to Euro Love because at the end of the song, the lyrics state and China... which...Isnt in Europe. The middle image of the inside 2 complements this lyrical verse because there is a picture of the iconic wall of china which has been crossed through with a red cross with text inside that quotes Isnt in Europe. . I feel that this is comedic and is intertextual with Goldie Lookin Chains Guns dont kill people, rappers do because the humour which is their main focus of putting across to the audience is similar to mine. However, mine is more focused on the feel-good factor as it needs to comply with the target audience and also needs to have suitable themes which 10-30 year olds and more specifically, families can enjoy.

Magazine Cover The costume of Mr Euro Love is formal and connotes a sense of professionalism. This compliments the Billboard magazine cover because Bruno Mars is shown as classy through the way he is doing his button on his shirt. This gesture is further emphasized by the way Bruno is staring into the viewers eyes and the fact that he has gold jewellery (a gold necklace and gold sovereign ring) signifies that he is wealthy and therefore has high standards and expectations. A key object of iconography which relates to my magazine is the fact Bruno is wearing sunglasses. This, combined with his staring into the camera, connotes a sense of being cool; he looks like a king of pop in a sense. This trait is shared by my magazine because Mr Euro Love is seen with a pair of flashy sunglasses and is in a position which exemplifies class and awesomeness. Mentioned in my magazine is the planning document which I have followed the draft by implementing the use of vibrant high intensity colour and have used the Neon-Light ideology that of which is commonly used in the Pop-Genre. I believe my magazine achieved this brilliantly because the colour palette stays the same and only consists of pink and white. This connotes love and unity which is exactly what I strived to achieve in order to connote in the Magazine and the entirety of the digipack. I achieve this by changing the perspective of the text and adjusting the distance and opacity of factors such as drop shadow, colour overlay and inner glow. I think the neon glow on a wall works well because the typical pop genre includes luminescent text and because of the name Saturday Show sounds like a club, I found that it would be suitable to have the title stuck on a wall to make it appear as though it is a fixture. This fixture evokes the idea that Colin and Matt have their own studio/arena and shows that they are well known. The Colin and Matt Saturday Show is used on the front cover of the digipack which forms a relation between the front cover and the magazine advertisement which therefore forges a connection. The idea of having Alex (Mr Euro Love) on the bottom right corner is a valid decision because the composition complies with the rule of thirds. This makes the appearance of the magazine seem legitimate. The placement of the reviews by music critics looks authentic due to the professional text which differs entirely from the style of the Euro-Love text itself. I even included ratings which critics would normally give. I thought that including this would be beneficial because the realism side shall be complemented and therefore make the audience believe in its authenticity.
