Title:MotivationtoInvestinAdvancedManufacturingTechnology Abstract: The research presents selected results of postal survey focused on advancedmanufacturingtechnologyadoptionandutilizationthatwascarriedoutin the Czech Republic two years ago. We have narrowed our focus on motivation of managers of manufacturing companies to invest in modern technology here. We believethatthemostimportantmotivesarestronglylinkedtopotentialbenefitsthat are associated with particular technology and that is why we have studied various benefits of advanced manufacturing technology and we put it into context of the problems the managers have to face nowadays. Our results show that from this perspectivetherearemanygoodreasonstoinvestinmoderntechnology.

Title:DynamicRealTimeoptimizationappliedtoroboticsystems, applicationson position/forcecontrollersandreactivegraspingtask Abstract: This talk deals about applications of dynamic optimization techniques to robotic control; particularly the used of gradient flow approach to online real time implementations. It is shown that continuous time optimization techniques result on real time applications for robotic systems. Several optimization index functionswouldbeintroducedfordynamicoptimization, whicharesolvablebythe gradientflowapproachinthecaseofroboticapplications.Particularcasesthatare considered, among others, are position/force controllers and reactive grasping tasks. Stability nonincreasing properties of the closed loop system are drawn based on Lyapunov functions that are directly based on the optimization index function and the gradient flow approach. It would be shown that optimal local conditions might be overcome by a proper addition of well known PID techniques. Experimentalresultsthatsupportthetheoreticalanalysisarepresented.

Title: ReducedVthTemperatureDependenceinBidithiolbenzeneinparallelarrangementImpact oftheIntermolecularSpacing Author: AissaBoudjella Abstract: NumericalsimulationshavebeenperformedtostudytheeffectofthetemperatureT on the electronic transport through a small group of molecular assembly system (MAS) by presenting IV and GV characteristics analysis for different geometry structures. The model involves 1,4dithiolbenzene (DTB) (HSC6H4SH) molecules stacked in one dimension (1D). The MAS contains two DTB molecules packed in parallel geometrical arrangement. The relationship between the threshold voltage Vth and d the intermolecular spacing (which involves the orbitalinteractions)isinvestigatedwhenTrangesfrom50to325K.Atfixedtemperature,the systemintheregimeofstrongerinteractionsobtainedwithcloseDTBmolecularunit(d=3.3), reduces Vth. Vth decreases approximately by 2.2 V when d changes from 3.3 to 6.9 . The temperature rise effect is another important factor that could reduce Vth . When T increases from 50 to 325 K, Vth decreases linearly, approximately by 1.2 V. More importantly, our simulationresultscorrespondtoL.Caietalsexperimentalresults[24],thethresholdvoltagefor switchingmolecularwiredecreasesasthetemperatureincreases.

Title:TheEffectofTemperatureontheStickslipFrictionBehaviorofOpticalGlassesinPrecision GlassMolding Author: PeimanMosaddegh,JohnZiegert Abstract: Understanding the frictional behavior between glass and metals at elevated temperatures is necessary for accurate modeling and simulation of the precision glass molding (PGM)process, andcanhelpindeterminingtherequiredgeometryofmolds, inserts, anddiesto producevariousopticalcomponents.Inthisresearch,thefrictionalbehaviorofNBK7,anoxide glass, atelevatedtemperaturesincontactwithplainsteelhasbeenstudied.Theresultsshowtwo important phenomena related to temperature. First, the stickslip phenomenon is more pronounced at higher temperatures close to the glass transition temperature. This is expected since relaxation and creep of glass occur by molecular diffusion, which becomes more rapid as temperatureincreases.Second, whenthetemperatureisabovetheglasstransitiontemperature

Title:ThestudyofNaturalDraughtCoolingTowerWindCoveringUsingCFD Author:MasoudDarbandi,HosseinSalemkar,AliBehrouzifar,BagherAbrar Abstract: The industry experiences have shown that a local wind can considerably affect the performance of powerplant cooling towers and factory chimneys. In thermal powerplants, the performanceofRankincyclespecificallyreducesduetoatemperatureincreaseinitscondenser. This issue is very important to powerplants located in countries with strong local winds. To remedy the mal performance of a natural cooling tower in windy conditions, it is required to understandthephysicsofflowaroundcoolingtowersmoreclearly.Onepastreportedphysicsis the wind covering issue. It is known as a negative physics, which may drastically reduce the performanceofacoolingtowerinwindycondition.Inthispaper, wefocusonthisspecificissue and its impact on a real natural draught cooling tower. Contrary to the past carried out conclusions, we show that wind generally plays a dual role in cooling tower performance exhibition. Surprisingly, the positive and negative roles can simultaneously occur in even desirable conditions. In this paper, we use computational fluid dynamics tool to quantify the positiveandnegativeimpactsofwindonnaturaldraughtthroughdrycoolingtowers.
