THE CIVIL ENGI NEERING DEPARTMENT

The Civil Engineering Department of FEATI University was established in 1946 to meet the countrys need for top caliber Civil Engineers that will spear head in nation building. They develop education and research programs that focus on our societal needs and students career objective. Most of the faculty are graduate of Master of Science in Civil Engineering and some are finishing their Doctorate Degree in Engineering .

Moreover, courses are taught by full-time faculty. Part time lecturers from industry participate in the teaching program. These lecturers bring into the classroom the valuable experiences they have acquired in their professional expertise.

MISSION STATEMENT The Mission of the Department of Civil Engineering is to maintain a preeminent role in teaching and research by pursuing a policy of rapid adaptation to new knowledge, discoveries, technological advances and emerging economics and to serve the public through dissemination of knowledge and information. The department seeks to provide an environment of better learning within which creative thinking, practical skills and self-development are cultivated and sustained to produce qualified Civil Engineers who will challenge the present and enrich the future. VISION The Vision of the Department of Civil Engineering is to establish itself as a leading center of Civil Engineering education by supporting academic distinction and seeking excellence in teaching learning, research and public services in partnership with the university.

To instill in the students the desire for the truth, arrived through the critical thinking skills in the various disciplines, and to express this truth by means of communication appropriate for its understanding and appreciation.

Class sizes are small and the students have more opportunity to participate in class discussion. The professors and PICE student organization help the students during regular consultation hours when students have the opportunity to discuss their problems and to seek guidance. OBJECTIVES 1. To produce quality CE graduates who can excel in the field of Structural Engineering, Highway and Transportation Engineering, Construction Management, Engineering Hydraulics and Geotechnical Engineering. 2. To Produce well-rounded CE graduates, individuals who are not only good in technical matters but also aware of the social, cultural and religious responsibilities. To produce CE graduates who can measure to the demands of our fast changing world, especially in the field of technology and industry.

ARE SCHOLARSHIP OFFERED FEATI provides a full or partial scholarship to high school valedictorians and salutatorians, academic scholars, athletes, choir members, and ROTC cadets and sponsors.

RESEARCH FACILITIES IN CIVIL ENGINEERING The Civil Engineering Department is fully equipped with state of the art analytical and laboratory research. Computer support in the department is extensive in both hardware and software. Numerous PC Pentium are available for students, the CE Department has access also to high performance system including STAAD, AutoCAD, ETABS (Non-Linear), SAP 2000.

Each student of the Civil Engineering Department is encourage to join such activities that would relax their mind from the academic activities.

Center of Bouyancy. The Hydraulics laboratory.

The Civil Engineering Laboratory Facilities include the Soil Mechanics Laboratory, Construction materials and Testing Laboratory, Fluid Mechanics and Hydraulics Laboratory. The Soil Mechanics Laboratory is equipped with soil testing equipment and advanced computer-controlled soil testing. The Construction Materials and Testing Laboratory has a Hydraulic Press Machine (HPM) along with the equipment for evaluating the high strength of concrete.

Each student are trained to become a one man army meaning being mold as a well rounded individual and can face all necessary challenges that may come from the profession they may indulge.

The Civil Engineering Department have several research that have been won in various Technological Innovation competition.
