From November 24 2012, visa holders will need to pay a Visa Evidence Charge (VEC) of AUD$70 to have a visa label placed in their passport. Any payments made to the Australian Embassy in Ankara can only be accepted in Turkish Lira. There are different options for you to pay the Visa Application Fee (VAC) or Visa Evidence Charge (VEC); paying the fee at the embassy counter on the day of your appointment, (cash or credit card ONLY) paying the fee to any Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) office in Australia; through your migration agent, sponsor, relatives, friends, etc. and sending the receipt along with your application. The application form and supporting documents can be forwarded to the embassy by post. If you wish to lodge your application in person, please contact the embassy appointment line on +90 312 4599550. All documents submitted must be originals or certified copies, certified by the Australian authorities or notary publics in your country with certified copy stamp and signed. All documents which are not in English, must be submitted with a certified English translation. Translations must be one of the following; a notary public certified translation; or translated by a translator who is a member of any translators/interpreters association; or translated by a translator who is a member of the National Accreditation Authority for Translators or Interpreters (NAATI) in Australia. Please ensure that you fully answer all the questions in the application and sponsorship forms and provide all required documents. Failure to do so may result in your application being delayed. DO NOT SEND YOUR PASSPORT, as you no longer need a visa label to travel to Australia. Any other documents will be returned to you by courier when your application is finalised. Courier charges will be at your own cost.
