Spencer Community Foundation Scholarship Guidelines

SCHOLARSHIP
$500.00 Scholarship(s) will be awarded annually to graduating senior(s). The scholarship will be payable
to the post-secondary educational institution.

SELECTION COMMITTEE & CRITERIA

The selection committee will consist of the Spencer Community Foundation Committee members.
Selection of the winners will be based on academic performance, honors and awards, extra-curricular
activities, service to the community and career goals.

APPLICATION
Seniors shall be notified of the scholarship and applications distributed to interested students
Applications are to be completed and submitted to Mrs. Eilers on or before April 15, 2013.

STUDENT ELIGIBLITY
1. The student must be a graduating senior of the West Boyd Public School.
2. A parent(s) or guardian of the applicant must be a graduate of Spencer High or Spencer-Naper
High Schools, or parents who have resided/opted within the said school districts for a minimum
of 10 years.
3. The student must have a minimum overall GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale at the end of the 7th
semester of high school study.
4. The student must attend an accredited college, community college or vocational school the next
term (excluding summer school) following graduation from high school.
5. The student must submit a completed application to Mrs. Eilers on or before April 15, 2013.

ALTERNATE SELECTION
If the recipient of this scholarship does not accept the scholarship or fails to attend an accredited
college, community college or vocational school, the scholarship shall be awarded to the alternate. The
alternate must meet all the requirements of the scholarship to be eligible. In the event that the
alternate no longer meets the scholarship requirements or chooses not to accept the scholarship, no
scholarship will be awarded for the academic year.

PAYMENT
At the end of the first term of college the scholarship recipient shall submit a copy of the semesters
grades and be in good standing academically with at least a 2.0 GPA to the Spencer Community
Foundation. At the beginning of the second term of post-secondary education, the recipient must be
enrolled and a check will be issued directly to the institution of which the student is attending by the
Spencer Community Foundation, treasurer, Cody Boettcher.
