Hayley is top of the class

Springboard Hartlepool continues to forge new links with employers in the Tees Valley Region, and one young apprentice has really hit the right note with her employer.
Hayley Williams has been employed as an Apprentice Teaching Assistant with St. Cuthberts RC Primary School in Stockton-on-Tees since last year, and has made a big impression on the Head Teacher Julia Douglass. Julia said: Hayley has been a wonderful addition to my teaching team here at St. Cuthberts and has worked well with pupils and staff alike. She has been offered a position as a Teaching Assistant for the next academic year, which is great news for us and for Hayley. It is not the first time that the school has worked in co-operation with Springboard who supply suitable candidates for interview and deliver the training and qualifications to the apprentices for the term of their contract. In return the employer not only fills a skills gap but can also gain a valuable new member of staff. In addition employers can also take advantage of a 1500 grant currently in place to encourage employers to develop their business and take on new apprentices. Julia added that she would love to continue to work with Springboard apprentices in the future and Centre Manager Carl Fox agreed: Forward thinking employers like St Cuthberts RC Primary are taking advantage of the benefits of working with young apprentices and finding that there are many rewards involved. We look forward to working with Julia and the school again.

Fit for Work

Springboard Hartlepools sport programme continues to grow from strength to strength. We are now offering young people the opportunity to work towards achieving a Level 2 qualification alongside our current Level 1 award. These trainees will gain a broad knowledge of the sports industry by taking part in many sports, understanding health & safety procedures and gaining experience at leading groups themselves. The Springboard Sport programme has now begun using the recently renovated gym at our Peterlee site. The gym consists of industry standard cardiovascular and weight training equipment. The gym allows learners the opportunity to experience a new environment that they previously may not have had chance to before. Learners are required to undergo a full gym induction prior to using the gym under suitable supervision. Students are also put through a series of fitness tests to establish current levels of fitness and to enable them to understand what areas they need to work on and improve. Students will be shown various different methods of training and exercise giving themselves ideas of how to reach their goals. The students are then required to

Both St Bedes and Byron Sixth Form College have been delighted with the new partnership with the talented young people at Springboard. From meeting the staff and visiting the office in Hartlepool our students have been energised into creating a totally transformed newsletter. Our first editions have been met with brilliant feedback from parents and all our partners. The design ideas and the quality of the print has created a much bigger platform for the newsletter. Several students are now interested in media and journalism since becoming involved with Helen and the team. Thanks again for weaving some magic on our newsletters.
