Job Title: HR Generalist Location: Seattle, WA 98109 Compensation: $53-70K+/yr DOE Job Description: HR Generalist

JOB PURPOSE/SUMMARY: Provide support and leadership to the HR Department involving employment, recruitment and training. Also support and serve as backup to other team members in their absence. This position will provide advice, guidance and support to management and staff regarding a wide diversity of human resources matters. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Administers employment/recruitment activities, assuring that properly qualified employees are recruited to fill company positions. Implement a successful recruiting strategy using various recruiting tools Maintain contacts with various sources of labor supply Develop creative strategies to attract active and passive candidates Work closely with hiring managers regarding staffing needs while ensuring compliance Interviews job applicants and check personal qualifications against job requirements; Investigates references and background checks Present and close offers Ensure onboarding process is interactive, exciting and interesting, new employees feel welcome and prepare them to be successful in their new job Maintains good public relations status with the various organizations such as: (HCRC) local or state Civil Rights Commission; (EEOC) Equal Employment Opportunity Commission; (OFCCP) Office of Federal Compliance & Contracts Program; (NILG) national Industry Liaison Group, etc. Oversees and supports management regarding the employment process to ensure company is within EEO and OFCCP guidelines and regulations, compiles information and submits reports for EEO-1, OFCCPs Affirmative Action Plan, Vets 100 report and Department of Labor reports. Maintains Headcount and turnover reports Develop, implement and maintain Marine Training and Development Programs Coordinates & serves as primary contact for community involvement programs specific to the maritime industry (i.e. Career Fairs, Work Force Development Workshops, etc.) Conducts research into personnel programs and activities, (evaluations, succession planning, etc.); recommends changes or innovations when desirable. Supports the development of specific job training programs Assists in keeping supervisors/managers informed of all changes in employment policies, counsels managers/supervisors regarding personnel problems. Assists in the solutions and appropriate adjustments to the management of those employees. Assures that company employment, personnel, and equal opportunity policies and practices comply with the applicable provisions of federal and state labor laws, including the maintenance of necessary files. Maintains positive & supportive relationships with all employees both within and outside the Companies and responds to employee requests for information and assistance. Utilizes HR Information System; makes recommendations to system-wide improvements/enhancements where appropriate Occasionally, supervises temporarily assigned employees Performs other duties as assigned Adheres to all company policies. Accomplishes all tasks as appropriately assigned or requested. KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Strong knowledge of human resources principles and practices. Ability to provide a high level of customer service and establish and maintain effective working relationships. Ability to plan, organize and manage multiple tasks as well as ongoing projects. Requires well-developed interpersonal skills. Ability to build strong partnerships and work collaboratively with managers and employees with varying background and cultures. Manage multiple priorities with frequent interruptions. Ability to handle confidential and sensitive company information. HRIS experience, preferably ADP and SAP. Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office, FrontPage and Visio. Knowledge of general office procedures and equipment. Must be able to make fair, unbiased decisions and stay level-headed in difficult situations. Must be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Must be able to quickly think of a problem through and make authoritative, autonomous decisions. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: This position requires a Bachelors degree, PHR certification and three to five years experience in the human resources field.
