Why Women Only?
Our womens workshops are intended to provide women with a supportive learning atmosphere. Many women have little or no hands-on electrical experience, and may be wary of attending a coed course with men who have grown up using power tools. Even women with hands-on experience already working in technical fields find it helpful and rewarding networking with other women interested in and/or working in renewable energy.

SEI Alumni
Throughout the years, SEI alumni have entered the renewable energy industry and accomplished some amazing work. Here are just a few of our thousands of alumni and what theyre doing today.
AISHA FIELDS - PROGRAM COORDINATOR FOR THE WEST AFRICAN DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM
The goal of the West African Development Program (WADP) is to help build the infrastructure of West Africa through renewable energy electrirfication, increased access to improved water sources and community education initiatives.
LEE FELICIANO - SALES MANAGER FOR ALLWEST ENERGY, INC. AND VALLEY OF THE SUN SOLAR
Lee is Sales Manager for AllWest Energy, Inc. an Arizona PV Systems Integrator. He and his wife also manage the valleyofthesunsolar.com website which promotes solar energy awareness using art as a vehicle (they donate 10% of sales to SEI's Solar in the Schools Program!).

INVEST
SEI offers alumni an opportunity to participate in INVEST, International Volunteers in Environmentally Sustainable Technologies. SEI alumni can apply to volunteer overseas with one of our partner organizations to help bring renewable energy technologies to communities in the developing world. Volunteers install PV systems on rural health centers, teach rural farmers about solar water pumping, install micro-hydro and wind systems to power rural communities, or help build sustainable houses. All this while meeting new people and learning new cultures. In 2006 INVEST volunteers went to Thailand and Nicaragua.
Scholarships
Traveling to the United States has become increasingly hard for our international students, due to visa requirements and the cost of airfare. We try to offset these costs to eligible developing country residents by offering tuition scholarships. SEI also offers partial tuition scholarships to low-income participants.
As a teacher and mom of three, it would have been financially impossible for me to take advantage of SEIs courses had I not been granted a scholarship. I am truly thankful to all SEI members who make these scholarships possible!!
- Aisha Fields, West African Development Project
Migwetch (thank you) SEI for all your work in making the Western Shoshone solar project a reality. We look forward to working together in the future.

SEI Eco-Campus
SEIs Eco-Campus
The time has come to expand as an organization to meet the exploding demand of those seeking training in a rapidly growing renewable energy industry.
We are moving to an intensive lab-based workshop format and will be teaching over 70 hands-on and online workshops in 2007. SEI is primed to educate nearly 1,800 people worldwide this year. To meet this demand, we at SEI have increased our staff, are developing new and improved curriculum, and have procured a 7-acre parcel of land in Paonia, Colorado. SEIs main office is located in Carbondale, Colorado. However, we have had a small presence in Paonia for just over three years. In 2005 we purchased a beautiful 7-acre parcel of land in Paonia. This purchase will be the catalyst for a multi-stage project to create the renewable energy Eco-Campus we have envisioned for over a decade. While the final product may be some years away, we have currently relocated our Paonia office to this property and have already hosted many of SEIs hands-on workshops in Paonia. From Photovoltaics to Wind Power to Natural Building workshops we are ready to take Hands-on to a whole new level.

SEI Eco-Campus
In our new PV Lab Yard, our students do not just install the array or wire the battery bank, but work on all aspects of our lab systems. Small student groups rotate from component to component within the balance of system and tear-down, dissect, and re-install lab-based systems. From detailed solar site analysis to conduit sizing, our students do it all. Currently, three diverse PV systems challenge and occupy students with the latest cutting edge equipment. In further stages of this initiative we will be adding additional systems. In Phase II, we will be adding 5 more PV systems (another grid-tied system, a water pumping system, a developing world system, a security/parking lighting system, and a portable power system) as well as a micro-hydro system and wind power system. Phase III of this initiative will encompass larger scale PV and Wind systems to provide energy for new buildings. The combination of these specific lab systems will provide a balanced and intensive experience that will prepare our students for real world, code compliant design and installation of renewable energy systems.
