When studying this subject, students will gain knowledge and understanding in Information Technology. This module aims to enhance students knowledge of Information Technology application that related to Foundation Science and many fields. This module was important to Foundation Sciences graduates be familiar in the basics of the use of Information Technology.

Students will be able to acquire the knowledge on : Distinguish between hardware and software used Exercise and lab assignments that allow students to interact with a computer and learn by actually using the computer and the World Wide Web Basic principles and programming specification stage Techniques and aids for the thorough testing of software, design and performance

At the end of the course, the student will be able to: Know about the history, terminology, and principles of information technology in all areas Identify the sources of information sciences and be well versed in retrieving this information. Understanding of why computers are essential components in health and sciences fields. Apply alternative learning techniques and reinforcement via the World Wide Web Present the most-up-to date technology and application in an ever-changing discipline

Teaching-learning and assessment strategy

A variety of methods are used, comprising lectures, Tutorials and Computer Skills practice. Modern methods of learning such as role playing, group dynamics, discussions, and brain storming are frequently used to enhance student understanding. Notes and exercises are provided in the handouts while lectures will be conducted via power point slides. Students will be required to prepare themselves in advance of the lectures in order to contribute ideas and offer opinions during the class activity. Through this, students are expected to be involved directly in their classroom activities and able to share their knowledge and experiences with their classmates proactively. A minimum of two(2) Exam, two(2) Quiz and ten(10) Computer Skills Practical will be done in the semester of studies to ensure that students have attained and achieved the expected level of the prescribed learning outcomes. The examination questions will be set by the subject lecturer and will be held at the end of the particular semester. Examination questions will consist of 20 or 30 Multiple Choice Questions and 3 or 4 Subjective Questions.
13. Synopsis

This course is a combination of fundamental computer principle. This Information Technology course will introduce students to the concept and application of information and communication technology (ICT) in the field of foundation sciences. To create better understanding of applied Information Technology, students will have opportunities to use available information system applications related to their field of studies as well as applications software and technologies. Information Technology topics will cover: Introduction to IT, Operating systems, Internet, Office Suite Application such as Word Processor, Power Point (Presentation), Excel (Spreadsheet) and Access(Database), Multimedia software, Networking, System Development, Development of Website, and Ethics and Security.
