April 3, 2013 Dear Friend: The Republicans have nominated former Gov.

Mark Sanford in the 1st District special election to take place next month. This is the same man who left the governorship paying $74,000 in state ethics fines from 37 violations for abandoning his family, lying to his staff, and his constituents to see his mistress in Argentina with your money. The same Mark Sanford who was so ill-respected by his own partys majority Legislature that said Legislature overturned all but one of his 106 state budget vetoes, and delayed signing a bill intended to curb domestic violence until the press called him out on it. That was just his governorship. Mark Sanford was previously the Congressman from the 1st District for three terms after the 1994 midterms. From voting against supporting veterans and the troops (even while he was in the Reserves!), voting on the wrong side of the Violence Against Women Act twice, or voting against funding to replace the Cooper River Bridge (then daring to even show at the ribbon cutting as governor) Mark Sanford can be counted on one thing: to leave South Carolina taxpayers high and dry for his own benefit. South Carolina is in dire need of members of Congress that keep their constituents in mind, and Jim Clyburn cant do it alone. Back in February, the Young Democrats were among the first Democratic groups to endorse Elizabeth Colbert Busch for the 1st District special for her stellar work in the private sector and for the Ports Authority as a trade negotiator, helping create jobs for South Carolinians and selling its goods. Paid for by the Young Democrats of South Carolina, a caucus of the South Carolina Democratic Party; 1529 Hampton Street, Columbia, SC 29201. Not authorized by any candidate or candidates committee.

We need a negotiator like her in Congress. In order to get her to Washington, we need your help. Off-year elections in the Lowcountry have very low turnout, and this race is no exception. Every vote for Elizabeth in this race could potentially tip the election. We need you to pitch in for Elizabeth. Whether its calling into the district from home, spending a few hours canvassing on a Saturday, or even giving the campaign a small donation our efforts can turn the tide. Lets stop Sanfordand give South Carolina a better alternative.
