Data Integration: Integration with SCADA & GIS

An important project step was already early on the integration with SCADA from SBR Softtech Pvt. Here, the GIS is also the master, and the SCADA receives initial data from the GIS and then daily incremental updates of the network topology and relevant technical attributes. The data preparation is done in the GIS, where the MV network is divided into tiles and exported to DXF and CSV files using the Esri Data Interoperability Extension and custom Python scripts. These are then imported to the SCADA from the FTP server via import tools provided by the SCADA. This way, data capturing has to be done only once in the GIS, and the SCADA receives up-to-date data .

Integration with SAP

The SAP integration is done to three main modules: The interaction with SAP/PM synchronizes the data for all relevant MV assets between SAP/PM and ArcFM UT. This way, SAP/PM was relieved of managing the technical data and concentrates just on the organizational data that is available in both systems The benefit of all SAP integrations is considerable: All data are synchronized between systems with mainly one leading system, which is the GIS. This way the data management overhead workload is greatly reduced, leading to lean workflows with a reduced number of SAP clients. Also, a number of old, isolated legacy applications could be removed.

Data Migration It is the process of converting legacy data in to SAP format.
