Criteria for Award to be given on House Day

Working of Committee
A discussion will be conducted on the nominations, followed by a check for a unanimous decision. If so, the above agreed upon name(s) are decided upon. If no unanimous decision can be reached upon, then a secret ballot is cast, where each member in the committee writes zero/one against the nominations on his vote. The votes for each nomination are totaled /compared, and after a further discussion, a decision to award / not award may be arrived upon. All decisions taken by the committee must be countersigned by all members of the committee. The committee is required to make a report on its deliberation and the reasons for selecting the students, for the reference of future batches. If any person of committee is being considered for award, he will not be involved in discussion of that award. Any student who has had disciplinary action taken against him or has engaged in activities known to have been detrimental to the institute/hostel / his fellow students MAY NOT be considered for any award.

Best Fresher (two Prizes)


This award is to be awarded to the top performances in the hostel activities. The performances are to be rated by consensus of the committee. The committee may take in account performances in: Institute (Inter-IIT / Inter-Hostel) events. Inter Institute events. Any activity initiated/revived which helped in drawing out talent or generating enthusiasm. This award is given to a student of first year who has shown his/her talent in the concerned field. He must have participated in concerned fields events. Winning of any event will fetch more points. He should have excelled in hostel cultural/sports activities or intra hostel events in Ortus (Left to interpretation of the committee).

Significant Contribution in the area of Sports


Compulsory Criteria:
The student should have contributed to the sports activities of the hostel throughout his stay in the hostel. He should have represented Hostel (may be with a team) at institute level sport activities.

Following are criteria for judging and performances are to be rated by consensus of the committee: Represented Hostel or Institute in particular field (Points can be given for contribution in intra-hostel events). Leadership role and talent nurture; judged by House Secretary Position achieved by Hostel in that particular area. Please Note: Preference will be given for hostel achieving top three positions in that particular area. Note: As Prizes are given from Hostel: Contribution toward hostel or hostel getting top three positions in particular field will be given preference. Highest point allotted in leadership roles to captain/vice-captain of Hostel who wins top three position for hostel in that particular sports.

Significant Contribution in the area of Cultural Activities


Compulsory Criteria:
1. The student should have contributed to the cultural scene of the hostel throughout his stay in the hostel. 2. He should have nurtured new talents. 3. He should have represented Hostel (may be with a team) at institute level Cultural activities. He should be exceptional in that particular field getting positions for the hostel.

Following are criteria for judging and performances are to be rated by consensus of the committee: Represented Hostel or Institute in particular field (Points can be given for contribution in intra-hostel events). Leadership role and talent nurture; judged by House Secretary Position achieved by Hostel in that particular area. Please Note: Same points for Hostel representative, Director of Hostel or Institute team.

Preference will be given for hostel achieving top three positions in that particular area. Note: As Prizes are given from Hostel: Contribution toward hostel (as representative or Director) or hostel getting top three positions in particular field will be given preference Highest point allotted in leadership roles to representative of Hostel who wins trophy for Hostel.

Significant Contribution in the area of Hostel life


Compulsory Criteria:
Name should be recommended by at least 1 member of Board hostel Management Created enthusiasm among people and should have generated impact; judged by House Secretary

Following are criteria for judging: Contribution to BHM stall and Hostel organization headed by House Secretary (Points for this allotted by House Secretary) Contribution in Maintenance committee or Mess committee will also be taken into account.

Outstanding Contribution in the area of Sports


Compulsory Criteria:
The student should have contributed to the sports activities of the hostel throughout his stay in the hostel in sport (All athletics events and all swimming events are considered as one sport each). He should have nurtured new talents. He should have represented Hostel at institute level sports activities. The student must have been a key contributor in one of the sports and the hostel must have won among top three positions in the same sport during his entire stay. Following are criteria for judging and performances are to be rated by consensus of the committee: 1. Represented Hostel or institute in sports: Hostel Institute Sports 1 Sports 2 Sports 3

2. Position achieved by Hostel team (Please note: top three positions should be given same points and individual events are lower in priority than group events). 4. Leadership roles (Institute or hostel captain have same points as this is award from Hostel so contribution toward hostel is more appreciated. Sport Secretary who wins trophy for Hostel will receive highest point in leadership role followed by Captain who wins Gold for hostel in that particular sport); judged by House Secretary.

Outstanding Contribution in the area of Cultural Activities

Board of Hostel Management Compulsory Criteria:
Part of at least 1 committee: Excelled in hostel organization activities Name should be recommended by at least 1 member of Board hostel Management Created enthusiasm among people and should have generated impact; judged by House Secretary

Following are criteria for judging: Contribution to BHM stall and Hostel organization headed by House Secretary (Points for this allotted by House Secretary) Contribution in Maintenance committee or Mess committee will also be taken into account.

SAC
Compulsory Criteria:
Should be member of Student Affair Council or name should be recommended by Hostel Representative of SAC for that particular year. Created enthusiasm among people and should have generated impact; judged by House Secretary

Number of SAC full body meeting attended

Cumulative Outstanding Contribution in the area of Sports


Compulsory Criteria:

He should have been involved in sports activities for minimum 1 year (for Masters) and 2 years (for Ph.D.). He should have received minimum one award in area of sports. The student must have been a key contributor in one of the sports and the hostel must have won among top three positions in the same sport during his entire stay. Leadership role and talent nurture; judged by House Secretary. Position achieved by Hostel in that particular area. Awards received by individual in that particular area. Please Note: Same points for Hostel representative, Director of Hostel or Institute team. Preference will be given for hostel achieving top three positions in that particular area. ROH
Compulsory Criteria: Cultural The student should have contributed to the cultural scene of the hostel throughout his stay in the hostel. He should be involved in more than 1 club. He should be exceptional in that particular field getting positions for the hostel singlehandedly/ having led teams. Position among top three (with major contribution from this person) in any of the field he has been involved in for all the years of his stay. He should have received at least one award in that particular field. Sports The student should have contributed to the sports scene of the hostel throughout his stay in the hostel in more than one sport (All athletics events and all swimming events are considered as one sport each). The student must have been one of the key contributors in the team which should have won among top three positions in sports for during his stay. He should be exceptional in that particular field getting positions for the hostel singlehandedly/ having led teams. He should have received at least one award in that particular field. He should have nurtured new talents. He should have represented Hostel (may be with a team) at institute level. He should have been involved for minimum 1 year (for Masters) and 2 years (for Ph.D.). Points distribution criteria will be similar to that of Outstanding contribution to sports or culture depending on the field of particular person. Committee will take into account the contribution of individual in hostel organization.

FOH
Compulsory Criteria:
The student should have contributed to the Hostel Organization throughout his stay in

the hostel. He should have nurtured new talents; judged by House Secretary He should have been involved in hostel activities for minimum 1 year (for Masters) and 2 years (for Ph.D.). Part of at least 1 committee with House Secretary as convener: Excelled in hostel organization activities
