Introduction
Green buildings are gaining in importance as countries worldwide explore ways to reduce their carbon emissions. In Singapore, our key strategy to mitigate carbon emissions is to increase energy efficiency of various sectors. In particular, our large building stock which consumes about 30% of our national electricity consumption. Hence, BCA places special emphasis on achieving energy efficiency thru greening new & existing buildings.

Green Buildings
Green buildings are designed to reduce & ultimately eliminate the overall impact of the built environment on human health and the natural environment. Basic principles in green building practices & technologies are derived from : Energy Efficiency Water Efficiency Waste Management & Minimization Indoor Environmental Quality
Zero Energy Building
lower tenant turnover ability to command higher lease rates recognition as being more socially responsible in caring for the environment
Efficient use of energy equals savings on cost.
