The recast of the EU RoHS Directive

The recast of the EU RoHS Directive, also known as RoHS 2 and the RoHS Recast, ofcially known as Directive 2011/65/ EU on the restriction of the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment (recast), was published in the Ofcial Journal of the European Union on July 1, 2011 and enters into force on July 21, 2011. This will repeal the existing RoHS Directive 2002/95/EC.

How does your company plan to meet these new requirements for RoHS compliance?
The Challenge The recast expands the scope of covered products and is now a CE Mark Directive. Since it is now covered under the CE Mark requirements, companies need to ensure conformity assessment procedures are in place to align with module A of Annex II to Decision No 768/2008/EC This includes the use of Standards, Supplier Management, Testing and other mandatory activities to ensure compliance. If you are not implementing these requirements, you must remove the CE mark from your electronic product!
