Danni #614 Digging Reagan and I are digging. Its lots of work and my arms are really tired.

We have been digging for a month now, and we havent even gotten close to the mantle. I know we have super powerful machines to dig, buts its just so hard. Hey, Reagan! I yell. What? Reagan answered angrily. Can we just give up now? I mean we have been digging for a month and have only gotten to the Asthenosphere! We should have already been digging through the mantle by now!! I dont care! We need to do this! Everybody else in my class for their earth project is just flying to the moon and taking a cool picture of the earth. I want to do something better, she said proudly. So, I agreed to keep on digging. Since her project wasnt due until the end of the school year, we took a little break. After our break, we went back to work. But before that, Reagan and I went to the store and bought more super powerful shovels. Finally, we reached the mantle about a week later, and it was getting very hot. We got spacesuits to prevent the heat from hurting us. I thought it was still very hot, but I guess Reagan didnt. I was so tired after we dug halfway through the mantle, that I fell asleep. I had a really weird dream about Reagan and me making it to the center of the earth; we couldnt get out of the hole we had made. It was a weird dream because its the 22nd century, not the 21st, and we could just fly out with our shoes. When I woke up, it turns out Reagan was already at the outer core. I was surprised that she did this all alone. I asked her how deep we were in the earth. She said, We are 1,800 miles deep, but if we want to get to the core, we will have to dig 3,430 km down. How much longer will it take? About 2 more weeks. On our way out of the outer for another break, I ran into the Eurasian Tectonic Plate (which is right under Japan). That was a bad idea because the earth started to move and shake. Reagan and

I were being tossed around inside the earth. As we tried to fly out, we almost didnt escape. For some reason, this earthquake would not stop. Luckily, our neighbor was a world famous scientist so we asked him what was wrong. He said, This earthquake has a magnitude of 7.3, which is almost identical to the earthquake that happened on December 7, 2012, and the only way to stop this earthquake is for you to go back down into the earth and move the Tectonic plate back to its original spot. How will be able to get down there if the earth is shaking?! I screamed. You will just have to try not to fall, and thats all I can tell you, Mr. Frankenstein said angrily. Then, he slammed the door in our faces. I personally think Mr. Frankenstein is very rude. But, we still did what he said. When we got down to the American Plate, we moved it back in place and we stopped our journey to the center of the earth.
