Project Title: Facebook Project Title of Volunteer Role: Social Media (Facebook) Advisor Projects Purpose & Organisations

Mission: Tourism is by far the most significant activity in the Borough of Queenscliffe, accounting for at least 45% of the local economy and contributes to the viability of 275 local businesses. Supporting this industry is vital to the community and the Queenscliff Visitor Information Centres (QVIC) key focus and purpose. The QVIC plays a major role in the promotion of the area by providing information to the 46,500 people who visited the centre each year. The QVIC has recognised the importance social media has to play in the promotion and marketing of the area to a new cohort of travellers, particularly younger travellers. Consequently the QVIC wants to use this platform to support, inform and attract tourists to the area and provide breadth to their experience. Required Qualifications/Experience: An interest and experience in social media is required. An interest in/or experience with digital photography. Experience in marketing and communications is desired. An understanding of how to schedule Facebook posts and how to build Facebook likes Knowledge of the local area would be considered advantageous. Study in or experience in the journalism would be an advantage Estimated Time Commitment: Approximately 30 hours For example: 2 hours per week or 8 hours per month flexible to suit both parties. Position description: This position may suit an individual or small group of 2 or 3 people. You will be responsible for the development of a Facebook strategy for the QVIC. This will include: The development of a calendar/ schedule for the next 12 months of events/posts and stories. A procedures manual for staff and volunteers to use. Development of a collection of local images, along with the collation and cataloguing of the existing photo library. The development of stories and sourcing of imagery would be required. Outcomes of Project: Development of a marketing strategy for the promotion of Queenscliffe as a destination and the local businesses. Advice and support regarding its implementation and improvements to our existing Facebook page. Increased number of likes as a result of the volunteer(s) work
