Spider-Man is a comic book character created in the 1960s by (writer-editor) Stan Lee and (writer-artist) Steve Ditko for Marvel Comics. Spider-Mans rst appearance was in Amazing Fantasy #15. The web-crawlers real identity is that of Peter Parker, originally a young, orphaned teenager who was raised by his Uncle Ben and Aunt May and received superhuman powers after being bitten by a radioactive spider. Peter struggles to learn that with great power comes great responsibility.. Spider-Man / Peter Parker was one of the rst standalone teenage heroes within comics. While there have been many iterations of Spider-Man and Peter, he was originally a shy, high school attending science geek. As the character developed, he eventually became a quick-witted, freelance-photographing, seless hero. His color palette includes blue, red, and black with occasional white highlights. The vibrancy of the colors depends on the decade they were drawn in.

The City
New York: the city in which Peter was raised and Spider-Man was born. Its the city that has witnessed all of his heroic acts and held him during his lowest emotional points.

Gwens Death
e death of Gwen Stacy marked a large change in the life of Peter Parker and in the comic book itself. It lead to a large change in the mentality of the webslinger.

Multiplicity
e return of one of Spideys villains, the Jackal, who was actually an old school teacher of Peters, not only brought back the return of Gewn Stacy but also an army of cloned Spider-Man some of which were horribly mutated. Two of the more important clones that surfaced were Kaine and Ben Reilly, who eventually became the Scarlet Spider.

Origins
Spider-Man made his rst appearance in Amazing Fantasy #15 before getting his own comic book later on. is issue told the origin of the Webhead and established Peter as the rst teenage superhero who was not rst a sidekick.

After rst recieving his powers, Peter initially used them for personal gain. He started wrestling to earn money and, one night after a match, let a burglar escape after he had robbed the manager of the gym. (who had just previously given Peter less money than he had promised him). Peter eventually found out that this robber jeld up Ben in the street for his car so he could get away. After refusing to give up his car, the burglar shot Ben.

Peters parents, Richard and Mary, were killed in a plane accident when Peter was young. e newly orphaned Peter was then left in the custody of his Uncle Ben and Aunt May.

Peters best friend, Harry Osbornes, father reveals himself as the Green Goblin, Peters arch-nemesis, who eventually drops Gwen Stacy, Peters beloved girlfriend, from the Brooklyn bridge to her death. Harrys humanity has been attempted to be redeamed in the comics through certain events, namely when Harry saved his child from a burning building.
