Petrovietnam is National Oil & Gas Company. Operating O ti i all in ll areas of f petroleum t l sector: t upstream, t midstream id t and d downstream. Exploration activities started in the early 1960s in the Song Hong delta, northern Vietnam. Sep 1975: Establishment of the Vietnam Oil and Gas General Department. Sep 1977: Establishment of the Vietnam Oil and Gas Company (PETROVIETNAM). April 1990: PETROVIETNAM was integrated in MHI. MHI Since April 1992: PETROVIETNAM was detached from MHI to be under direct control of Prime Minister. Since January 2007 PETROVIETNAM has been Multi-Businesses Group beyond Petroleum.
