1 FOREWORD
This manual intends to be a fast reference guide including in a brief manner the module's tools, highlighting those to be used most frequently. The first thing to be kept in mind is that the main functionality of this module is the creation of profiles to generate features based on these elements; therefore, even though the Sketcher is a separate Workbench, it can be accessed directly from the Part Design module selecting icon plane on which profile is to be generated (or vice versa). Select icon and the

to leave the window.

An exercise is included at the end of the manual to be used as a reminder of the main functions of the module.

2 HELP TOOLS
It is convenient being aware of the tools that might facilitate work as well as the possible indications by means of colours on elements created before starting creation of a contour. Splits the model through the sketcher plane, only the rear area of plane is viewed. Allows selecting grid intersection points only. Is used for the created elements to adopt the type of construction elements, used to facilitate design. This kind of elements does not show out of the Sketcher window. Allows forcing creation of geometric Constraints. Allows forcing creation of dimensional Constraints.

Dimensions generation Co-ordinates for element being created are entered.

3 GEOMETRY CRE ATION

Tools for 3D geometry creation are described below. Profiles creation Creates a profile made up by lines and curves depending on the option selected in the Tools menu. Lines Tangent arcs Arcs through three points

There is also a set of predefined profiles which though less usable, might be useful in some specific applications: Rectangles Parallelograms Cylindrical elongated holes Polygons Oriented rectangles Elongated holes Key way holes

4 OPERATIONS AN D ELEMENTS TRANSFORMATIONS

Below is a description of the operations and transformations that can be performed between Sketcher elements, either single or belonging to a profile. Creation of radii between two elements, selecting from Tools whether the two of them, just one or both elements are to be trimmed

Creation of corners between two elements, selecting from Tools whether the two of them, just one or both elements are to be trimmed.

This allows trimming elements (the first one or the two of tem), closing curves. There is the possibility of quick trim also.

5 USAGE OF CON STRAINTS

Constraints can be specific for en element: fix, horizontal, length, etc., for this purpose we can select one or several elements; or they can be created between two of them: angle, normal, parallel, etc., therefore, only the two elements involved have to be selected. Directly creates a dimensional Constraint, or with the menu in mouse button 3 a geometry Constraint can be selected Creates a contact Constraint. Creates the Constraint selected from the dialog box. Runs an auto-Constraint on a set of elements. Creates an animation on the provision of two limiting values for a Constraint and a step.

6 USAGE OF 3D E LEMENTS
We can lean on 3D geometry to create sketcher 2D geometry elements: Projecting 3D elements. Creating the intersection of 3D elements with the Sketcher's plane. These elements are protected (yellow colour), and they cannot be modified until an Isolate is executed.

7 GENERAL WORK PROCESS

First of all, it is convenient to draw a sketch with the command, with the same number of elements (lines, curves) as the profile it is intended to obtain. Constraints are then located between the profile elements and the 3D to be used as a reference. The remaining Constraints are then located between the elements until it is completely defined (all elements in green colour).

8 MODIFICATIONS
The following are the different ways to modify any element created with the sketcher: Parameters for the element can be modified accessing them by double clicking on the element or on the tree, or selecting it and Edit + Definition. Modify by directly dragging the element if there is freedom for Constraints. Delete element selecting it and Edit + Delete or with the Delete key in the keyboard.

It also is possible to change the plane of the sketcher on which the profile has been generated by means of the Object + Change Sketch Support command.

Create the profile below on plane Y=0, which is referenced to two planes parallel to the YZ and supported on a surface.

Create the contour below, keeping in mind that it is necessary to be assisted by the construction geometry.
