David Nance is a nationally acclaimed safety

expert dedicated to educating law enforcement officers and the public about personal safety. In order to disseminate his message of safety, he developed the SABRE Law Enforcement Training Division and the SABRE Personal Safety Academy featuring the Civilian Safety Awareness Program and the newly launched College Safety Program. David has been featured on The History Channel's Modern Marvel Series, Don't Be a Victim on Spike TV, the National Rifle Association's (NRA) Self Defense Video Series and PoliceOne.com. David has also been a guest speaker at various industry trade shows and is a member of the National Crime Prevention Association. In 1997, David developed the SABRE Law Enforcement Training Division, which works with thousands of police departments around the world. From the NYPD to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's department, the SABRE Law Enforcement Training Divisions has certified over 4,000 law enforcement instructors on use of force, defensive tactics and the safe and effective ways to use pepper spray. While working closely with law enforcement agencies, David recognized the tremendous need for personal safety training for the general public. However, David decided to be proactive by creating the SABRE Personal Safety Academy (PSA) after two unfortunate, unrelated assault incidents hit too close to home. He believes that, although everyone wants to feel safe and protected, most lack a plan and take a gamble with their personal safety. The simple truth is while Public Safety Officers spend months in training at police academies then continue to train throughout their careers, the public receives little, if any, training in this arena. Furthermore, police officers have multiple force options, a partner, back up and body armor to help protect them, but the average person has relatively little to protect him or herself in the face of danger. With PSA, David has developed the first and only nationwide program teaching individuals risk reduction techniques to reduce their odds of being attacked and how to protect themselves in case an attack occurs. Since the inception of PSA in 2009, David has created a network of approximately 400 PSA Instructors in 40 states. These trainers include police officers, self-defense experts and firearms instructors. With their certification, they provide a simple and affordable solution to keep you and your family safe. PSA Instructors teach students about awareness and avoidance, the right way to use pepper spray and the best self-defense technique to escape an attacker. Most importantly, the PSA Instructors teach people how to protect themselves without throwing a punch, which makes the program uniquely compatible with any body type or build. As a result of PSA training, individuals throughout the country can learn to be prepared, not scared! David has officially launched the SABRE College Safety Program (CSP) last fall for students who often find themselves in novel and exciting, but sometimes vulnerable, situations. While students welcome their newfound freedom at college, they consequently assume more responsibility. However,

David believes that personal safety education is majorly lacking in the schools. To resolve this deficiency, he tailored his Personal Safety techniques and strategies to address the particular situations that college students might encounter on campus. With this focused approach, CSP teaches students how to avoid potentially risky circumstances, but also how to protect themselves if they encounter an attacker. Moreover, the training can alleviate some of the parents concerns of sending their children off on their own for the first time. In order to further advocate the cause of personal safety, Davids programs support the Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network (RAINN) (www.rainn.org). Since one in six women will be sexually assaulted in their lifetime, RAINN works to prevent; sexual assault, support its victims and seeks justice for those who commit the crime.
