COURSE DESCRIPTION
FNPT 1 GUIDE 01 - SESSION OBJECTIVE Introduce the Jet aircraft particularities in terms of: - Fly by wire" aircraft handling - Thrust / speed management - High altitude specificity's - Speed management during stabilized approach 02 - BRIEFINGS SOP's for Take-off, approach and landing, check lists Operating limitations using the FCOM Volume 3 - Maximum slats / flaps speeds, landing gear - VMO / MMO - Buffet onset 03 - SESSION GUIDE
Set up: FMGS : Insert the following : - INIT A: Departure and destination, cost index 30, FL 350 F/PLN: Departure to destination with Runway in use INIT B: CG /ZFW and FOB - PERF: Speeds, Thrust reduction / acceleration altitudes, FLEX, Configuration /Trim During the entire session the instructor will provide the trainee with pitch attitude and power setting using the unreliable speed indication tables.
: Take-off is performed without FD Assist the trainee with: - Rotation technique, pitch attitude target - Thrust reduction and acceleration : Demonstrate the stability in pitch (Auto trim) - Level flight with speed variations - Pitch attitude changes Demonstrate the stability in roll Demonstrate turn coordination - Reduce the speed to establish CONF 2 - Start a turn and demonstrate that the side slip (refer to ball) remains centered - Apply a small amount of rudder (inside the turn) as you will do on a conventional aircraft: the side slip indicator moves from its centered position - Release gently the rudder and notice that the side slip indicator comes back to the neutral position - This means: NO NEED FOR RUDDER INPUT FOR TURN COORDINATION

- Start a 180 turn - Notice the turn radius on the ND: ask the trainee to memorize the value in order to compare it with the turn radius at low level 7 : Start descent (M .78 / 300 - 250 kts) During descent explain how to increase / decrease the rate of descent Use FCOM Volume 3.05.30 to compare descent profiles with and without speedbrakes : Refer to item 6 (d) : perform turn at 250 kts using the same technique and compare turn radius (4.5 to 5 NM) : From 250 kts, with AP off, using a 8 to10 kts speed trend, decelerate and configure the aircraft: note time and distance to decelerate Demonstrate the effect of slats / flaps extension on pitch attitude and power setting : Engage the AP and repeat item 6 (d) at Vapp: note turn radius (1.5 NM) : From Vapp and establish on a 3 descent path (idle power), set TOGA power and note the engine spool up time
